2019 World Championships Mens Short Program

Hell wait Vincent Zhou currently has the highest PCS? What the

Other than the spins, which were somewhat interesting, that was incredibly dull, jump problems aside. He has basically zero performance quality, and I find his jump quality odd. :(

Well Lori sitting with Vincent instead of Tom hopefully portends good things for the future

Lori with any skater does NOT portend anything good. Get Josh in to do his competitive programs!

The highest 3A analysis after 4 groups:

Distance: 3.51 meters, Morisi Kvitelashvili
Height: 0.64 meter, Slavik Hayrapetyan
Landing(Speed?): 21.0 km/h,
Michal Brezina

Nothing has changed since Group 5. Super interested to see Group 6's stats!

Samarin is so flat when the jumps aren't working. Too much of the choreography consisted of half-hearted pointing.

Yeah there's no program there at all. It's a shame because the song is cool and it builds well. The potential is there to do something with it but he just skates while music plays in the background.

Alexander Samarin (RUS)

Tech: Only a 2Lz (ouch, no credit), a bit empty but muscled out the 4F+2T (4F might be <), not bad on the flying camel spin, low landing on 3A but still done, good rotation on change combo spin, could have more depth of edge and speed in footwork sequence (Level 3), interesting sit position in final spin

Pres: Well, he's not happy with the pop. The program faded quite fast in the choreography after the mistake, lots of empty space, but he was able to get the rest of the jumps back. Lots of his elements are around the +2 area; in that way, he's similar to Zhou.

Score: 78.38, TES 38.64, PCS 39.74 (currently 14th)

Vincent having higher PCS than both Kevin and Matteo is seriously an outrage.

While I can see him pushing his tech up, upping BV, I simply cannot see his SS, CO and IN of this SP as superior to Matteo or even Kevin. He forces movement in-between jumps and spins a lot, there's a very little flow for me, the performance is not that coherent to look at, my eyes just kept wandering while I focused on how Deniss, Matteo or Kevin performed heck out of their programs, clean or not.

Vincent reminds me a bit of Nam in that they both had big growth spurts and have that awkward feeling to their skating and have lacked real good skating skills and are a bit slow on the ice.
