2019 World Championships Mens Short Program

would you have said the same if i were talking about a flu?

OK, you got me there.

I'm just your typical guy who doesn't like to think about female issues.

Haha remember when Mishin said Liza pulled out of competition because of that?! I can't believe he lived after that. I mean duuude.

Yes. And remember my reaction to it in her Fan Fest?!

Hmmmmmmm!

Well no one is running away with this competition so the free should be even more interesting. Loved Shoma's axel into spread eagle and the musical flourishes. I still don't think he completely utilizes the build at the end of the program and it may be too fast for him. Compare to Sui/Han milked the end of their music in the free

SHOMA NO! This final flight is determined to make us all cry. If Nathan misses his combo again I swear...

Costly mistake from Uno as well

SP: 47.51+44.89-1.00 = 91.40, 4/31

If Uno and Nathan don't take advantage of Hanyu's mistake and keep him close to the leader board they are in trouble i think.

I don;t get why guys acts like talkin about period is something outragoues. It's perfectly natural for healthy women. ANd no one would bat an eye, if someone had said about having head ache, how is that different? Why excatly woman can't complain about feeling bad because of the period? ANd yes, female skaters have it to, and it may affect their skating.... The whole taboo about having period is annoying.

You have a point (I'm a woman so I know the pain) I was thinking more in terms of Mishin been the one to say it. Like if Liza had said it herself that would have been fine.

I wouldn't want my coach telling everyone I had gastro or something without permission. But hey maybe he did...

Shoma's purple ensemble is quite the statement!

That triple axel was wowzers. He also seemed to be a little more extraverted in his step sequence this time. Shame about the flip but he didn't let the performance suffer.

Shoma Uno (JPN)

Tech: Ouch, a fall on the opening 4F attempt (maybe <), good comeback on the 4T+2T (safely through, but no 3T), strong centering on the flying camel spin, bang-on 3A (superb!), good rotation through sit spin, great energy and attack through the steps, signature spin sequence with fairly good centering

Pres: Despite the mistake, Uno has very good phrasing through the music and can bring out the nuances of the acoustic guitar music. The fall didn't hurt the rest of the program much. He's able to wait for the music to come to him before he moves.

Score: 91.40, TES 47.51, PCS 44.89, -1 Deduction

Shoma is another skater who, like Vincent, just does not do it for me. However, in contrast to my feelings about Vincent, I very much appreciate and recognize Shoma's talents in the non-jumping aspects of his skating (whereas I find these terribly lacking in Vincent's skating). I also think that Shoma has a nice 3A, and I appreciate his step sequences.

Shoma, we didn't need you to express solidarity with your countryman in this group by also messing up your solo jump! :noshake:

Aw no don’t say that. There have been some wonderful performances this morning.

I know, but well this was not what I was expecting for the two of them... All the Japanese men managed not to be clean come to think of it

Ya gotta strike while the iron is hot. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of skaters have never heard of this advice....

Uno’s Step sequence is just stunning. Vincent this is what you’re aiming for skill wise.

I'm just gonna throw this out there. So, yes, I think we get to complain
