Judging Artificial Intelligence
True, true... But it seems a fairly simple coding challenge to exclude factors such as: Name of the skater; Name of coach, Nationality of skater and "newcomer" status.
If that is possible, then what biases would remain? Maybe the ISU technical committee meets at annual Congress to reassess: technical requirements, technical ideals, and latitude for allowable error (as applied to TES GOE).
Such a system could easily produce video or 3D digital modeling, which would be distributed to all coaches & skaters, to be applief as technical standards during training. The cost of these identical systems would be borne by Nat'l Feds, so a complete "digital judging system", complete with cameras and software, could be circulated around the major rinks during training, or set up permanently in a central location. This would allow skaters to test their performance against the "system" standard that would govern technical scoring for that year.
The greatest benefit of a digital technical "panel" might, hopefully, turn out to be that judges have more attention to turn toward the remaining subjective side of artistic sport, Program Component Scores.
With less to distract, the human judging panel could apply closer scrutiny to each individual component of PCS. This could help to avoid the blanket judging of PCS, wherein all five very different components tend to be scored in irrationally tight clusters.
When results were then displayed to the crowd in the K&C, even casual fans might be able to understand them more easily. This would be especially effective if less obtuse terms were used to identify the different components. ("What's the difference between Interpretation and Performance and Composition and Transition, again, please."). (You could even include a component called *Smile*.

)
Of course, superfans, know these differences, but the easier it is to engage the casual fan, who only understands that "judging is scandalous", then the more the sport grows.
And because skaters love to wear sparkled, the motion capture dots used by an AI system would be easy to camouflage among the rhinestones and Swarosky pebbling of their costumes.
Opinions?
