She didn't get a 77 she got a 75+2 bonus.Disagree, Liza has a better jumping technique than Anna.
It's not just the comparison though, 77 for that SP with that 3-2 with a flawed landing is way too much.
Last year she got the same score for a clean performance at Europeans, which is close to her PB.
like who?Some skaters*
Sure, we don‘t. But it‘s highly likely. She‘ll have to fall more than two times to lose against Daria (see Kamila vs. Daria as an example), nevermind Liza. That’s just the way this judging works. Something would have to go majorly wrong for her to lose. I have faith in Anna that this won‘t happen. We don't know that yet.
It's costly when you count BV of 3Lz+3Lo in bonus part, which is 11.22, against 3Lz+2Lo, which is 8.36. That gives us 2.86, not to mention the GOE. -0.83 against let's say +1.8, that's another 2,6 point, overally like 5.5 point. It wasn‘t really costly, though, she got a deduction of 0.83, that’s virtually nothing.

Liza's UR was clearly visible on replay and even slightly live, imho. Also I didn't think Anna's lutz deserved a !. To me it looked slightly outside/maybe flat right at take off but I thought slightly outside.Well, yes, but it makes no sense, really, that a visually clean 3Lz+3T (even if there was an UR, it isn’t as disruptive as Anna’s turn/step out) would get -0.59 while a much bigger mistake would only have a deduction of -0.83. And on top of that, Anna‘s lutz didn‘t get the ! call it would have deserved...
Also, she got better PCS than at the last competition - and for a weaker program, in what world does that make sense? I don‘t think Anna was 3 points better in PCS than Liza. Normally she easily is but today her performance/interpretation were a little off and her skating skills aren‘t good either. And even if we leave Liza out of the equation, Anna was apparently two points better than Daria, too. How?

My message was for Nadya, since she was praising Sasha for having improved in the last couple of months. I also praised Sasha, because she is really working hard on getting a better technique. But at the last Russian Cup she still fell on the combo. No one was worried about her "starting to regress". I left the name out of my original comment because it is not about Trusova, it is about the general situation that we have 2 different skaters with the same element, both failed, and the opinions on their progress/regress is different based on other factors.like who?

Very true. No one is being particularly objective. Some skaters* fall on a 3Lz-3Lo and people still see them improving, others fail at the very same element and are regressing!
Anna got -0,83 on a 2Loop which has lower BV than a 3Toe<. GOEWith the scoring, I don't know enough about levels on spins and step sequence to comment. The only comparison that has me puzzled is Liza and Anna's combination GOE. Liza at -0.59 and Anna at -0.83, but Anna's mistake was much bigger?
Anna usually gets around 12.50-13.00 points for her Lutz-Loop combo. Here she got 7.53 so she lost about 5 points. And that is consistent with how she was judged at Stage One.Disagree, Liza has a better jumping technique than Anna.

Sasha is indeed improving. She has better 4T now than under Eteri, she also has better movements and is more artistic. Also, she has less falls now that under Eteri. My message was for Nadya, since she was praising Sasha for having improved in the last couple of months. Well, I‘m not talking about Nadya because frankly, the way she talks about Anna is not normal at all.My message was for Nadya, since she was praising Sasha for having improved in the last couple of months. Well, if it‘s mostly about reputation; then Liza should be the one leading in PCS, as she‘s actually a World, European and GPF Champion. But she doesn‘t, and rightly so. Still, why does only one get a bonus for their achievements while the other doesn‘t?As for PCS in comparison with Daria - one is a two time Russian national champion and European silver medalist while the other is technically still a junior internationally. How do you think a federation (any of them) is going to score their two-time reigning national champion?
I feel like regardless of results, scoring system, and almost regardless of what happens on the ice, people are always going to complain of a controversy and blame judging/scoring system depending on who they're cheering for. People and by extension judges aren't objective.I kind of feel like the judging system is a mess. It is.confusing and if they are going to reward a sub par skate by Anna over that of Tut - and it is justified with the scoring system - the scoring system needs a complete overhaul. At least with the old 6.0 system it was somewhat clearer
In what world? She was landing all jumps in her 3 quads layout last season at this time of the year ... Of course, with the pandemic, the situation‘s different but that comment of yours is just factually wrong.movements and is more artistic. Also, she has less falls now that under Eteri.![]()

Reputation is recent though - it's more what have you done for me lately. These wins came at the 14-15 season when Anna wasn't even younger age eligible (I don't think.) Or did Adelina, Yulia, Evgenia, etc continue to receive the benefit of the doubt? (Recall perhaps the Liza v Evgenia worlds debate/decision.)Well, if it‘s mostly about reputation; then Liza should be the one leading in PCS, as she‘s actually a World, European and GPF Champion. The GOE is based on the base value of the higher base value jump in a combination. Max GOE for both was 2.95.Anna got -0,83 on a 2Loop which has lower BV than a 3Toe<. GOE
Haha, I suggest you avoid watching American skating then. They definitely do the same. What i did notice at domestic competitions in Russia specifically and what bothers me the most frankly are the double standards.
They apply the penalties for mistakes only to skaters who are not favoured, while those who are expected to win or they want them to win, will get a pass to everything.
You can decide if you want to be strict or more lenient, the system is a bit open to interpretation that is true, but either way you have to use that same metric for all the skaters the same way.
The other big problem are the bonus points: on top of the power of completely make up PCS and GOE, judges in Russia also have the power to give or not give additional points on elements.
Agree, Liza's jump technique is fantastic. But, it is only one of a gazillion bullets to judge a jump. Liza's great technique has a downside - she tends to have a great take off straight up but no flow on the landing and that means she has difficult to add a combination. That's why she did 3Lz+2Aseq last year. But great job of Liza today to go for the 3Lz+3T!
I actually don’t have a favorite in this competition... I like Anna and Tut equally - for me, it is more that if a skater skates clean and delivers an amazing performance they should be rewarded for it (esp since she had more difficult jumps). Anna simply didn’t and her mistake took away from her performance but she still scored better in both areas.I feel like regardless of results, scoring system, and almost regardless of what happens on the ice, people are always going to complain of a controversy and blame judging/scoring system depending on who their cheering for. People and by extension judges aren't objective.
