Anna is scary skinny. She looks naturally skinny taken one step further. Hopefully that is not the case. I mustn't be the only one who thinks this way.
Alina said to "keep your mouth shut" towards food. They shouldn't be saying things that make their coach look bad in public, but they must be thinking about it in an unhealthy way for it to come out that way.
Are we looking at the same Anna Kat? Anna looks likes she has added several pounds for this season. She looks like a different person. Still very slim but not like last season.

I think that the point here isn't to suggest that Daria will be like that, only to point out that a positive assessment of an environment is not necessarily an indicator that it wasn't abusive. Many students say good things about abusive coaches in all sports so without more information which we do not have we cannot make informed opinions about the environment (and therefore, we probably shouldn't make any at all)
Not the case with Dasha Its great TT takes back their own who left TT maybe even with hurt feelings like Polina and Dasha only to return to be coaches. I'm sure the girls and guys love having them around. This time as coaches and maybe even confidants if need be. :)

I think the biggest issue is people trying to paint Eteri as an angel or a demon, when really she is neither. She is a successful figure skating coach who has some controversial methods.

Parents and children can decide if her approach suits them or not and then decide whether to stay or go, nobody is held there against their will.

If they choose to stay, good for them.

If they choose to leave, good for them.

If they choose to never come in the first place, good for them.
I agree with your post. But the line to get accepted into TT is a mile long! Maybe they have so many students that they cant accept as many in the future.

If Eteri could not get both Zhilina sisters to train together at Sambo 70 thats too bad. Her losing Veronika was a big blow even though TT has other top 12 year old novices. The Zhina kids parents must be ecstatic they are training together and the family is hopefully living togeher. EG lost Sasha Veronika and Alyiona ina 3 month span. Ive never seen anything like that is figure kating. Unbelieveable!

But you are actually making those claims. Why do you think some people give examples of former skaters who speak positively about Eteri or even work for her now? Because there were people BEFORE, who made those conclusions like Eteri is superabusive etc. And when someone gives and counterargument, they don't know better thing than claim "but this isn't helpful."

The first thing that isn't helpful is the absolute and desperate effort to turn white into black.
True.

I love that Polina and Dasha are back at TT this time as coaches. Who is next? Shelpen? Yulia? I would love that. ;)

It may take them years but I hope Polina and Daria do well as coaches. Whats great about this is that they went back to the place they spent years growing up as figure slaters and young ladies having many successes and some failures. They can offer TT pupils some of their experiences and how to become elite. After all Polina and Dasha were much betrer singles skaters than EG ever was. Eteri is he great coach and leader of TT but these 2 girls can offer different experiences and dfferent voices to TT pupils.

Anna has grown this season and looks quite healthy to me. I never thought she looked unhealthy though.

Despite people picking on her weight I've always thought Anna to be very fit. She caught my attention last year by how relatively well she looks after a 3 quad skate. I've seen some of the men look utterly smashed after their skates with less quads.

About 1.5 years ago I thought Akatyeva would rule Rus FS after 3A+K, now here comes Zhilina sisters, Samodelkina and (probably) more 😱

Scary skinny? She looks perfectly healthy to me. As the seasons have gone by, she has filled out a little more, which is good. You can tell she has continued to gain strength, which is why she was able to so consistently skate clean with 2-3 quads last season. That's why I think puberty will be on her side. She's never going to gain a huge amount of weight, it's genetics, and she is stronger than she seems. I am thinner than her, I'm 18 and I don't do any sport + I eat a lot. You can make assumptions about someone's weight but you will never know the truth. This is just as bad as fat shaming, she doesn't have to be a heavier weight because she is fine how she is.

I probably should have reported your post as body shaming.
But I didn't want the intelligent responses of the people who quoted your post to disappear as well.

1. I hope Med doesn't participate. It was horrifying to hear that this was because TAT made her retrain a Biellmann.
2. I do have questions about Eteri's methods, that have been voiced ad nauseam.
3. Russian coaching does seem like it cares little about the athletes to me sometimes. I wish this aspect would improve, and I'm happy I've never heard anything bad about people like Davydov, Panova, and Rukaivcin.
4. At the same time, I'm curious why someone like Mie Hamada, despite there being concrete allegations against her from a very visible member of the skating community, doesn't get the same or in fact more scrutiny as Eteri. (ETA: on English speaking media, though a friend who spends time on Japanese skating Twitter says there's little scrutiny there, too).

That's hopefully my only contribution to this ever.
TAT did what? For real? Damn. Zhenya practiced biellman for test skates? If she had to do biellman to make the olympic or world team? Maybe. Test skates? Nyet to that.

I would also claim that the motivation of the poster doesn't seem to be to disparage or ridicule Anna, but that of concern, Which makes a difference.

Personally, Anna seems physically sound to me.

I don't know why Mie Hamada's name appears under this thread a couple of times. What I know is the case b/w Oda and Hamada is still on going, and there is a conflict of interest b/w them. What we know now is all about you say and I say. And Satoko who's name has been brought up for example hasn't spoken up herself. I watched/read quite a few TV documentaries/articles about Mie Hamada, yes she's a very strict coach and she's talk of Yuna S eating too much and Marin Honda being lazy is definitely inappropriate. But I was also impressed how she cares about her students (Vincent Zhou for example, she helped him settle down in training in Japan and introduced him a sponsorship to relief financial difficulties; also she used to drive her students including Satoko several hours everyday to a rink for more ice time). I don't think it's fair to call her a crazy abuser at this point of time.

I guess... but hearing several separate accounts of several girls being dragged by hair is quite bothersome.

But that's the mystery. That someone who has known allegations (even if as "conflict of interest") against her and has also been known to talk badly about her students and is known to pull her students' hair and has made inappropriate comments about food, is talked about much less than Eteri - who *doesn't* have any allegations against her, while also having some things like Lipnitskaya's ED and Pitkeev's broken back. Why?

Trust me, I'm not dealing with this as a matter of law or something. But in the public eye, why does Hamada get so little scrutiny in comparison?

ETA: I was very happy to see Miyahara and Kihira no longer training with her, and that some on Twitter are finally beginning to agree there.

Her students aren't winning everything.
