For men, the main event was the return to the ice of Mikhail Kolyada, who in the summer made the transition from Valentina Chebotareva to Alexei Mishin. Kolyada skated the short program decently enough, made a quadruple toe loop in a cascade with a double and a chic triple axel. But the free one turned out to be mediocre. The bronze medalist of the World Championship did not get a quadruple, but he again made a clean triple axel. True, there was no strong technical set in this performance - as long as the skater takes care of himself. In general, the sources call the performance good and, if the scores were published, victorious.
In the short, the best was Makar Ignatov, who showed two quads, including a rittberger, but he took part in a free program. Andrei Mozalev tried a quadruple lutz in the short, not entirely successful, but nevertheless, the attempt is worth noting given that the jump is new for Andrei, and he succeeded in everything else. The world champion among juniors, Lutz, no longer stormed into the free program, who switched to the adult level, but he did not encounter problems with a quadruple toe loop and triple axel.
Pyotr Gumennik's short was unsuccessful - it was not without falls. But in the free program, he pulled himself together and showed his stable level, quadruple salchow and axel three and a half.
And the main sensation of the box office was Evgeny Semenenko, who performed along with adults. The one who shot the program to the music from "Bandit Petersburg". He did two different quads and two triple axels and skated flawlessly. In terms of components, the young ward Mishin is obviously inferior to Kolyada. The top three according to the results could be presented as follows: Kolyada - Mozalev - Semenenko. In total, about 10 adults and 10 juniors took part in the men's skates.
Note that European champion Dmitry Aliev did not participate in the skates due to injury, and the exact timing of his recovery is still unknown.
