2020-21 Russian Pairs' figure skating

One of my favourite Russian Pairs of the past Petrova/Tikhonov skated in Averbukh’s show along with their daughter Polina. I was really impressed with Alexei lifting both the ladies.
I've seen them live in a couple of shows and I always enjoy their performances. Polina seems to have so much fun! Once the three of them did a perfect SBS Axel (I think it was even a 2A, though not 100% sure). 🥰

I don’t think pairs is that difficult to understand if you already know singles. Maybe the lifts may cause you some confusion? But the other elements are more one of a kind, and when you get used to them they’re easy to spot.
And even though I would like more attention to pairs, I’m glad we can discuss a lot of things about them without getting political about the different camps. 😉
That is part of the good thing, that I have never thought about. I guess lifts aren't that much more complicated than spins. Perhaps it is too scary for some....

All of this singles drama, meanwhile Moskvina is giving interviews refusing to talk about Mozer, and talking about how she never raises her voice (which I believe, if we are to believe what we see on the surface). I'm sure there is more that goes on behind the scenes, as there are literally girls flying around here like in singles. But there is something refreshing about pairs, when compared to the clown show that is singles skating

Pairs skating is really growing on me these days. Less drama!
I'm glad to have watched the pairs in the channel one cup - I was just planning to watch T/M but then M/G also skated like champions. The top pairs can all beat each other on a given day, which I think is exciting!

The one thing that confuses me about pairs is the death spiral. I can't easily tell between the types of spiral and what is the difference between levels 3 and 4.

Oh my god this was the most adorable thing ever 😍 thank you so much for posting, Masha & Alexei still look great after all these years!
I personally enjoy it way more than I ever did singles, even if it is more difficult to understand
Pair skating is certainly much less difficult to understand than ice dancing, which seems to be much more popular and get more attention - I still have no clue about the technical details of ice dancing but I still like watching them. Although my favourites never seem to be among the top which leaves me scratching my head but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it. 😄

That's how I came too. I used to be a singles stan who tagged along the big name pairs. When Sasha left Eteri it was sort of entertaining to follow the show and see how she did, but then by the time Zhenya left I was practically done. the thing is that watching all this drama, ou know that there are real people with real lives and emotions behind it.

That took me a while too, and I still can't really tell the levels. https://www.instagram.com/p/CMGcz96l5zx/

I’m really looking forward to the World Champs and seeing all 3 Russian couples skate their very best. I’m disappointed for P/K as I really feel they are working hard to improve (which they have) and they delivered at Russian Nationals but in both the Channel 1 cup and Russian Cup final M/G were the clear winners.

Fingers crossed for a T/M victory.
Thank you so much @3T3T! Such fun to see Maria, Alexei and their daughter! They seemed to enjoy skating like this so much. They might not be doing throws any more (in fact Maria and Alexei mentioned this in an interview in IFS) but their lifts are still pretty good.

Truly amazing and heart-warming performance 🥰

I'm also looking forward to pairs competition at worlds.

I remember an interview with Tamara Nikolaevna not very long ago, done by a young journalist in a car, while she was driving it. The journalist was less than prudent to say the least, he insisted on asking about the nuclear bomb that was blowing up between Angels of Plushenko and Tutberidze. She was subtly, patiently trying to steer him off from the subject and to focus on her own students without saying much about the subject, but the journalist pressed on. I was amazed by her patience, I would have thrown him out of the car if I were she.
She also talked about the "rivalry" inside her team between B/K and M/G and said she wouldn't allow any negative sentiment to brew between them, and she make sure to keep them in check and channel the energy to a positive direction, to push themselves to achieve the best. I believe if anyone is capable of it, it would be none other than the great Tamara Nikolaevna Moskvina.

Not sure if it has already been posted, but here's a translated interview (I think it's the one you were referring to)?
That's just a tiny bit of course, she talked about a wide range of topics. I didn't know she has a PhD!
