It does look like T/M are going to Eteri. They joined pretty much the entire group (minus Evgenia) in going to the Urgant show.
Very true! It's just that it would be a change just before the olympic season. Of course in the current situation it is difficult to split training between Trankov and Zueva as the travels to USA and back are problematic and the last time they need is to lose time because of the travelling restrictions. Though, pairs are a novelty for the Eteri team (not complete novelty, as I reminded earlier, Daniil already did choreos for pairs). But it could be that they would train pair things with Trankov and individual things with Eteri. All in all, the curiosity is on the raise.
Voronov himself is a former Eteri student right? Did he have an amicable breakup with her? If so I could definitely see him remaining in their teamVery true!
I only hope Sergei Voronov will still be part of the team. And yet on the whole, it seems like a very structured training schedule and environment would be good at this point, and that competitive mental toughness is really all T/M need. One of Eteri team's specialties, if I'm not mistaken. Also, it might be good for T/M to be training as part of a large group; it might take them out of their own heads a little bit. Who knows? I agree that it seems like a this-is-last-ditch effort. But when you think of their training situation for the past 3 years, it's been chaotic. And I seem to recall an interview of them years ago when Evgenia said stability was very important to her.
Sort of...he did bring her flowers, but she had a real issue with his mother and blamed her for Sergei's less than stellar results while with her (Eteri), which was mentioned publically.Voronov himself is a former Eteri student right? Did he have an amicable breakup with her?
Trankov yes but I would be surprised if they keep Voronov as a coach, if Eteri is on their team then wouldn't she refer to Dudakov for jumps? I'm also interested to see whether they would use any new programs from Marina...or if DG is going to choreograph pairs programs for the Olympics too!Sort of...he did bring her flowers, but she had a real issue with his mother and blamed her for Sergei's less than stellar results while with her (Eteri), which was mentioned publically.
I do hope Max and Sergei remain with T/M they make a good team! I always smile when I remember their celebrations at Rus Nats
My concern would be that pairs is already the most physically grueling discipline, so adding in a coaching team whose secret sauce is even more extensive repetition seems like it would exacerbate wear-and-tear considerably. It still feels like their track record coaching adults is a bit spotty, so it would do them good to get older skaters over there. Also, maybe they'll start branching out to ID and other pairs.
I think it's kind of a last-ditch effort. Will it work? Time will tell.My concern would be that pairs is already the most physically grueling discipline, so adding in a coaching team whose secret sauce is even more extensive repetition seems like it would exacerbate wear-and-tear considerably.
That said, T/M may be in a situation where they need to take a big risk.
In the long term it would only do them good (and more importantly, do those older skaters good) if they actually had success with them. They've been prominent coaches for a decade now but Kvitelashvili is their only competitive skater over 20. Also, I respect what they do with the girls but this talk of branching out kind of underestimates the differences between disciplines... Zueva's occasional involvement with pairs shows specialists outside the field can work, but she only took on established pairs with a technical base and polished them up a bit. Which I guess will be the case here with TT and T/M.It still feels like their track record coaching adults is a bit spotty, so it would do them good to get older skaters over there. I know we shouldn't really start discussing Eteri's antics and her school's situation, but I totally agree. I just mentioned it to be something interesting for Eteri as a coach, to have as many good skaters under her umbrella. For her prominance in Russia's skating, she had a grand total of one skater at Worlds. Anna is the World Champion under her, but so is S/K under Zhulin, and M/G with Moskvina, for example. I'm not sure it would be in her best interests to branch out that much, it was more of a joke, really. Even her daughter is not coached by her, for example. In the long term it would only do them good (and more importantly, do those older skaters good) if they actually had success with them. Honestly the lack of stability in T/M's coaching situation post-Olympics is not helping... They never had a particular coaching arrangement for more than a season, no time to adjust. Though I guess pandemic travel restrictions sort of forced their hand for this and the next season.
I think this T/M going to Eteri is just for politicking power. Any Eteri skater gets extra attention and generous inflation. Otherwise there is no reason because none of their coaches know anything about pairs elements.
*whoosh* It. Was. A. Joke. She’ll soon get reminded that not everyone behaves like her lady skaters who can jump quads at whim. Also, would they even have the time to perfect a quad jump? I commented before, her boys are also at standstill at the moment. And they don’t even have pairs elements to train.
They're also going for packaging, choreography, and consistency.I think this T/M going to Eteri is just for politicking power. Any Eteri skater gets extra attention and generous inflation. Otherwise there is no reason because none of their coaches know anything about pairs elements.
