I am not overly surprised with Emily's retirement. Being National senior champion is a goal that many will not reach! Bravos for her successes. There was not really much available to her (and many others!!!!) on the international scene, and as this is the Olympic year, athletes often plan in 4 year cycles, we will see more and more retirements... some have already happened. For her, the season is over without further assignments, and she can start her post-competitive-athlete life right away.
 
I'm happy that Stephen got Junior Worlds (I was worried that his season had ended prematurely), but the CBC TV broadcast did mention that Corey's goal was to compete at Junior Worlds, so is the latter disappointed that he didn't get it (even though he will make his ISU senior international debut at 4CC)?

thanks... i had to give some screen time to my other son ;) and he deserved it... still not over the fall on the triple lutz you know... it gave me vibes of Patrick messing up the last, easier jump, of his layouts a while back... :) maybe one day i will change my name to 4everphan :)

for junior worlds, it would have been great to give JW to corey but that may still happen. Stephen may not go... We never know.. i don't think he is quite done recuperating from growing 10 inches or what not. Career wise, it's more important that Corey gets to 4CC at this point as he is fit and ready... and that way, he can get very important ranking points and seasons best scores, and hopefully senior tech minimums. One thing at a time ! :)
 
Stephen did beat Corey at Challenge as well, so I'm not surprised he got the JW spot. 4CCs probably wouldn't have worked for Stephen timing wise, so this way they both get an assignment.
 
I was planning to download CBC TV's Road to the Olympic Games broadcasts of Nationals (they include Kurt Browning as the commentator) from the CBC.ca website, but I've been searching for over a week, and I can't find the archived livestreams anywhere. :scratch2: I had to beg :bow: an acquaintance to convert their PVRs into video files, and so far I've completed uploading the Men Short Program. (CBC Montreal DIDN'T air this segment :mad: , so I didn't even know there were any SPs that made it to the television broadcast until I received the vids!)

not going to 4CC means wesley would need another event to get TES minimums for Worlds. Of course, he has been selected to go to Junior worlds, but in the event that either Keegan or Roman didn't want/couldn't go to worlds, Wesley "would" be next in line... Jo is supposed to get treatment for his knee right after 4cc... which will put him off the ice for a while as well... So it's getting a bit complicated here.... Canada needs to keep its two spots.
