And maybe it is just my undeniable favoritism towards tall people, but truthfully, being tall makes things so much harder, yet there is so much more potential if you do it right. But based on the results of last season they will be reserve, if that. But they may get GP cause of Pavliuchenko's illness, or whatever is going on with Rylov.

Russian pairs will be exciting the current top 3 are interchangeable. Granted they are not fabulous - they are not of the perfection style and charisma of B/S or GG or even Artur and his partners. They are all lovely, fairly solid teams. I give them credit or filling their top sots with world medal contenders. Z and E weren't that long ago in third at worlds and now retired.

If I remember correctly, Katia Gordeeva said in her book that Russian Nationals were always the hardest, for competing, for her and Sergei. I wonder if it doesn't vary from couple to couple. I believe Katia said somewhere else that for them, it was partly the excitement of showing the programs there and wanting everyone (the Fed?) to like them.

It's interesting that M/G still haven't won a medal of any color as seniors at their nationals. Maybe it's like skaters who peak early in the season and then find the major events a bigger challenge. Or vice versa: skaters who struggle in the first half of the season but then come through big time when it really counts. As for me, I'm going to be pulling hard for M/G, as they're now my lovely Russian favorites.

I kind of like them to be the slight underdogs, I think their (past 2) senior nationals results have come from them putting a lot of pressure on themselves as they know how important it is. They said their most recent finish motivated them to work harder and now we can see how they performed at channel 1 cup, rus cup final and worlds
