i'm going to put this in the nicest, most delicate way possible...

it is BAD.
Is it from Ryabenko? Because I refuse to believe that the same woman who produced so many great and memorable dresses (just to limit it to this season, see Sinitsina amazing SP dress) has put out so many ugly dress for Tutberidze's skaters in the Olympic year... I hope they change this and almost all the dresses from Eteri's camp, even the dress Sasha had on at test skates would be an amazing improvement.

Man I'm sad cause I was really hoping they'd go with something inspired by the black checkered outfit! I get what they were going for with the garbage dress but...

^I think this would have looked badass in dress form!

I guess it’s disappointing because it could be so much better but at least there’s some obvious design intent and it matches the program. Except for Anna’s SP dress I can’t say any other new costume really looks like it was made for a specific program, or with any idea of what it was going to be in mind until after it was finished.

But why would Sasha be wearing her free program dress today? It's only Friday.

I think there have been skaters who've worn spare/practice/draft dresses just in official practice, and then switched to the real one for the competition. I'm thinking of Rika specifically but there have probably been more. Hopefully Sasha's doing the same thing? I hope? I really hope?

Edit: And if this is supposed to be for the short, the short still isn't until tomorrow?

I think it could work for the program, definitely looks like a runway piece ;)
Yes. It looks like a week 1 dress from Project Runway that gets eliminated immediately.

The dress was shown in a 1TV documentary about Russian skaters' preparation for Skate America. And yes, it seems to be the final version.

Anyway, since all TeamTutberidze dresses range from "bad" to "terrible" this season, she‘s at least in good company. And more pressing than ugly dresses is actually the fact that she‘s injured… given the technical layout she's going for, this is bad news. I just hope she doesn‘t aggravate it here and recovers fully by Nationals. So many injuries recently…

I live in Asia, same timezone as China. European competitions are usually around midnight for me and then Skate America will be at 4am and 6am. All of you shut up.

(Kidding.)

(I'm usually up at that time anyway for assignments and staying up for figure skating is more fun.)
See my earlier comment. The Asians have it bad when it comes to viewing sports. Very bad.

Sad news

Valieva, Tuktik and Alena have problems with canadian visa. Semenenko and Ignatov too.

NOW, they realise this? Knowing how Canada has been super strict with the covid rules, I'd expected that they applied for their Visa's in like July!
Same goes for France too!!

I’m pretty sure the application process can only start X days prior to travel, so applying in advance or booking an appointment in advance isn’t always possible. They also probably needed to have some documents/invitations from the Canadian side, without which they couldn’t do their application (I assume).

Don't know if my translator messes up the text, but it says that the visas had indeed be approved but the skaters have not yet received the actual documents. It is not clear who is to blame here.

To be honest, you guys make me feel kind of crazy for liking Sasha's dress 😅 But we should remember that dresses go revisions throughout the season. Who knows this might just be the first iteration
The front can be excused, but absolutely hate the skirt from the back, it looks like she sat down on some wet newspapers and they stuck to it. And the white beads on shoulder straps make it look like she is wearing a while singlet/bra under a black dress, particularly from a distance.

There have been several instances in the past of "drama" with Russian skaters and visas for going to competitions and they magically always got resolved prior to the competition. I'm not gonna get riled up until there are official practices and Russian skaters aren't there.

I always thought that Trusova would be perfect for a Harley Quinn program. If her costume were then as messed up as this one it would only work to her advantage.

Wonderful. Not only are the Russians being put in the wheels, but they should also be made to look guilty in this story.
