Their scores are not low. Sakamoto is at most a 70 skater like today and Miyahara with her UR's and tech would never get to smell her 75 ceiling. Ksenia meanwhile is the type that should go over 70+ no problem but judges are scoring like her like some second rate junior skater. Girl needs to move somewhere that can politic for her. How in the world can they give her 10 points less in PCS than Tuktamysheva.
URs and tech don't affect PCS. And if they did that doesn't really help Kseniia whose jumps were visibly smaller than those who game before her.

It's a different competition than Liza T was in. It's, quite frankly, foolish to compare PCS across different competitions.

They are trying hard for the GPF to not be an all Russian affair. Just look at what they did to the JGPF qualifiers. Some low rated competitors got in because of JGP France refusing to admit Russian skaters. If this happens they better make total score the qualifying criteria. Honestly this should be the main criteria Covid or not.
LOL.

You do know the visas are already approved they just don't have them.

It's more like the exact opposite is true. Canada doesn't care about competitions in the face of a global pandemic.

These GP competitions that plan on politicizing their events should have their hosting rights taken away. There are countries that are far more flexible and amiable to visiting athletes whether to friendly countries or not. This malicious and bias treatment should end. Frankly all the delay is already a red flag. If the Russians don't show up in SC then I don't want those Canadians to host another GP or WC event ever.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this sounds?

Well I would hope the Russian Fed/Olympic committee (whatever the top org is, not just regarding figure skating but any sport where they are sending athletes as representatives of Russia) would have had some common sense about them and purchased some EU approved vaccines for their athletes to make traveling for competitions easier.

I believe someone on here has said Shcherbakova alluded in an interview she couldn't get vaccinated yet because she's had covid - there's some vaccines that say you shouldn't get vaccinated within x amount of time of having the virus.
I think some of it has to do with the fact that Russia itself doesn't vaccinate minors yet. Remember, at the end of the day, the it's a skating competition and the governing body is a skating organization. It's not the government nor a political entity.

I hope Trusova finally realizes that she doesnt have to pull out all her tricks to win a competition.

If she keeps performing clean even with her easier content that will eventually do good with her PCS reputation.

Pull out those guns when its needed but please strategies and pace your self.

This week was a true test of her character and growth. I feel like she finally listens to her coaches and humbled herself. I feel like I was watching a different person.

Im so proud of Sasha.
We’ll see how this conflicts with her self-stated desire to break records. I think she said she doesn’t care about a medal if she breaks a record. She wants to be the first to do something even if it costs her first place.

If it’s not approved in your country it’s still illegal to purchase and administer, lol. Besides, what if they don’t want to? Sasha said she didn’t want to get vaccinated. Canada offers plenty of exemptions for all sorts of travelers, holding up visas and then forcing quarantines on people who are low risk both from a health and age perspective seems cruel and overtly political.

Whoa!!! I just went and deducted 12 marks off Sasha's total score (got rid of the quad and didn't bother replacing it with anything) and she STILL won easily!

That's super impressive!
Yes, I believe that she really made an argument for that Olympics spot today, in Russia they were always pushing Daria ahead of her in SP by calling her Lip and ignoring Daria's flutz. Also Daria was always getting higher PCS pretty much regardless of how they both skated,

I'm glad that the international judges rewarded Sasha's great SP.

It would be strange if Daria didn't get higher PCS.

There is no such thing as a "flutz". There is "e" - this is when the wrong angle is large (for example it's like here), there is "!".

You can't compare Skate America scores to Finlandia. Finlandia was candies for all and only 4 Russian ladies have scored more than Liza's FS PCS there. They are Evgenia Medvedeva, Alina Zagitova, Adelina Sotnikova and Aliona Kostornaia.

Also Anna.

To me Ksenia just got the treatment of the newbie coming to seniors with no major medals (except she has an high PB).

You see with the low GOE, the somehow level 3 steps sequence despite having more difficult turns than the others, etc. Undervalued elements like when she did the spin in two directions with the flexibility, and she didn't step out or doubling things unlike others here.

So i find a bit difficult to justify that 10 points difference with the others.

For her this was a step above though, coming from Test Skates, she is getting stronger and she's also practicing the quad toe btw.

I'm pretty sure Liza is, I think I remember seeing that she and Mishin went and got vaccinated together. But she's obviously over 18, so she's probably the only one.
Aliona, Makar, Sasha S, and Evgeni are also over 18. But I don't think they're vaccinated. It's probably where the delay comes from. (Kamila and Liza T are probably more easily able to get visas as they are either minors or already vaccinated.)

However, the idea that it's politicized is silly. I doubt Canada cares about a skating competition in the grand scheme of things. They're just less willing to allow easy exceptions to their rules. No one is entitled to enter a country. At the end of the day, it is just a skating competition.

But it shouldn’t make a difference whether or not they are vaccinated, because regardless it is a vaccine, which Canada doesn’t recognize. If Liza is vaccinated with Sputnik (which I assume she is), then to Canada she’s considered as “not vaccinated” anyway. So that wouldn’t be a reason to differentiate between them.

It might be. They need a letter for an amateur athlete exception. Liza T got the only vaccine she CAN get indicating a willingness to get vaccinated and comply with COVID protocols and preventative measures. Kamila can't get a vaccine in Russia as she's too young (same with Anna, Sasha, Daria, Maiia, and Kseniia). That would put them in a different light to Canada's deputy minister. It's not like Russia has another vaccine so both of them would show a different willingness.

On the other hand, the others are age eligible for vaccinations and didn't get them. It might be harder to convince a deputy minister to grant them an exception.

Regardless, I believe they've all arrived at this time. I just read that it was easier for Kamila and Liza T to get them and that they were having more trouble with the others. That could have caused a delay for all the visas.

Yes she does want to break records, but she also one said something along the lines of “First place is winning, everything else is loosing”. So she clearly wants to win as well.

Also, I understand that Liza has already had COVID .. isn't that equivalent to being vaccinated as her body has already produced antibodies?
