Wow seems like Anna is completely back! I saw a video of the 4F-3T on another site. A little messy for her standards but still good. The bigger news is she tried a 4Lz in her run-through. Fall - but the rotation technique is so good, even when she falls it never looks harsh or like she's going to hurt herself.

Great news! Is she eventually planning to do 3 quads in the LP? Otherwise I don't understand why she'd do one 4Lz and one 4F like at Nationals when she could just repeat whichever the stronger jump is.

Well she still needs to land them in competition but its still great news.

Last season she said her plan was 3 quads by Nationals but then she got sick. I think a solo quad flip and quad lutz is a good strategy and based on what we have seen from everyone else it would/should be enough for the Olympic team, 3 quads is what she'll need to challenge Valieva though.

I think so. Well generally also, 2 different quads is far superior as she isn't repeating a jump. It allows her to do a whole extra triple.
 
I’m not surprised she’s landing the quad. They were being very quiet about her progress, and usually are pretty open if someone is struggling.
I think she seems to struggle some with the quad- based entire On what is shown in that clip. I’m still not convinced she can beat Kamila. She will benefit from a weaker field at this competition, but eventually will meet Kamila and time will tell.

She can't beat a clean Kamila. Even with inflated Nationals scoring, Anna's score was lower than what Kamila posted at Skate Canada. The 3A is hugely advantageous for Kamila, and that jump more than makes up the difference from Anna's higher base value quads.

Why not, with three quads Shcherbakova can certainly challenge her. It is just 2 points less in BV
And Trusova can beat Valieva with her own quads and 3As
Of course, Valieva is in her prime now and it is not easy to compete with her, but she is not invincible

If Shcherbakova does only a solo quad lutz and flip Valieva's FS BV advantage is about 4 points; if Shcherbakova gets back to her 2019-2020 FS layout (4lz, 4lz+3t, 4F) her BV would be a little over 1 point higher than Valieva's. But Valieva is likely to have a few point advantage with having the triple axel in the SP, Shcherbakova got 81 points w/o a triple axel.

In general I think Shcherbakova winning against Valieva is going to likely require a mistake from Valieva - which isn't out of the realm of possibilities, while Valieva was crazy impressive at Skate Canada, I think that was the only time she's done that layout clean and that triple axel isn't getting hit 100% of the time in competition. But additionally, Shcherbakova has not done a 3 quad program in competition since January 2020.

Shcherbakova's 3 quad FS layout from 2019-2020 is actually higher BV than Valieva's Skate Canada FS BV - protocols posted in post #4332

Has Trusova cleanly landed her triple axel in competition? And while yes, she has the 5 quads she's never landed it in competition and as of 2 weeks ago she was injured to the point she couldn't land her quads in practice and lessened her technical content to 1 quad for competition and the rumor going around is that she has a break in her foot. Could she tape her foot together and get through the season - possibly, but if she's doing that she's likely not going to be able to have that triple axel and very likely not able to go for all the quads.

Muravieva has a 3A and 4S now so she has it all too! Her career has been bubbling nicely I have to say. I'm so ecstatic because I was worried she might become an amazing performer that we wouldn't see enough of without the jumps. Not the case I'm pleased to say.

What? My dream must be coming true. My favourite skater is on the rise. Landing it in a competition though, is when it counts. But, this is amazing news and probably my favourite message of the year. So, thanks for this update.

Lovely to see Anna restoring her 4F. I don’t know why? But, this is feeling like Alina (Kamila) vs. Evgenia (Anna) all over again. Anna, the older and loyal athlete to Eteri versus Kamila, the younger and newer protege making her senior debut this year. Wishing Anna all the luck for this weekend. She is a tough and feisty competitor
 
I wouldn't worry about Maia's layout, I'm sure the 3Lo+3T is just an error (literally never seen an Eteri skater do that combo, unless you count Zhenya during the SP at Worlds 2016 after missing the combo on the 3F lol).

I'll be lighting candles for Anna. Just want her to stay healthy but if she could get back to form and have a 3 Quad layout in time for Nationals that would be so exciting! The Olympics are way more fun when there's a rivalry for gold.
