I had never watched a junior competition before, I did it because most of you were praising some of them and also because I had liked SS's programs at RusNats (by the way more at RusNats than this week). Consequently I cannot compare their performances with what the current best senior skaters did when they were juniors. What do you think? Would you bet that the 2026 OGM was on the ice :) ?

I think so. They are very very very good and from what I'm seeing with the current seniors, they are all keeping their jumps.

I think they will be absolute stars in the future.

Yes, Adeliia wasn't clean in the free but they both had exactly one fall and one step-out and Adeliia finished with 130 and Sofia M. with 143. In the SP Sofia M. with messy skate had nearly the same components as perfect Sofia A. (only 0.11 point lower) and in the free they even gave her higher. Sofia M. is the most ridiculously overscored skater I see currently. Tell me about Plushenko bonus.

I have generally the impression that Adeliia gets ridiculously underscored in her competitions not just here. I haven't followed her in previous seasons but I think she used to have some consistency problems? Which are mostly gone now. Her landed jumps are quite good and she has crazy speed, especially on the 3F. And what I can't understand at all is the low GOE on her spins in comparison to her competition. Those are the fastest spins I have seen in years!! :scratch2: In terms of this particular FS... yeah, her mistakes were both on a 4Lo, which noone else does. Muravieva had a step-out on the difficult 3A, but then fell on a regular triple.. Still, I really like her skating, she is very mature and I think she is ready for the senior circuit.

Yes, in the past Adeliya was not as consistent, but she had some really great skates like at the previous junior nationals (where she was still underscored as well in the SP). This season she only made some mistakes on the quads and there were less of them than with other skaters who are considered "quad-proven". So I really do not understand why she is kept so low in components in comparison with some other skaters.

Sofia is a very good skater with massive potential with all her ultra jumps. We agree about the media training for her and the coaches. It's funny how we never say this about a TT skater. ;)

But I think some of us who post here have thought this should happen for many years and it has never happened and probably never will.

We agree about petro being underscored all season and Sonia being ready for the seniors. The problem is they're going to have to make room for her on the senior circuit and who do you take spots from? Samodelkina and Adelia need a spot or 2 as well with challengers and a Grand Prix event.

The spins of Adelia are out of this world.

I am curious tho, because when I tried to rescore SP PCS at RusNat, I gave Adelia a pretty great score. I'm definitely not an expert in skating skills and whatnot but this is what I saw. Adelia had as many one foot turns as everyone else, except Sasha who had way less. A few more of those were clockwise compared to say Sofia M, but really just a few. She had the most clearly identifiable transition moves of anyone, and as much variety in her transitions as the others, except Liza who had way less. Sure, some of those turns and transitions I thought "meh, that cud have been better quality". Definitely more than I did for Sofia. But also definitely less than I did for Sasha, Liza, or Anna.
Adelia has great posture, extension, and speed. She was clearly engaged and performing for the whole program, she never looked like she was just trying to get thru the choreo. The music was very fast with obvious musical accents and she hit every one of them, effectively using extensions and lunges to reflect the highs and lows. Shes doing tango style moves to tango music so the choreography is appropriate.
To me there wasnt much missing. No, she wasnt skating to weepy French music about a devastating breakup she couldnt possibly relate to, but I strongly preferred it that way. I'm NOT saying she's better than Sofia. Sofia has a more quality to her skating skills, and I gave her great PCS as well. But I'm also not of the opinion that an angsty expression is required for good components. I think its unfair for people to assume Adelia deserves lower artistic scores just because her style isnt particularly "feminine". It doesnt have to be.
(Rescoring her FS PCS might have been a different story, the music choice is as unsuitable for a child as NMQP and some of the choreography was bizzarely mismatched. She would also of course lose a little at this competition for the fall.)

But nope, I don't recognize this "argument", no one has ever clarified where the supposed favouritism in advance of "my faves" is apart from the usual "Eteri bonus" statement. So I reserve my right to mark obvious favouritism when I see it like the examples I gave above.

Any idea when they leave for the training camp and then how long do they stay there before heading to Beijing?

I also heard that the Georgia figure skating team will be training at the same facility in Siberia. I find that hard to believe just a couple weeks before the Olympic team event. Or is it because almost all of the Georgia figure skaters are Russian born?

Not sure who the whole Georgia team is, but perhaps Eteri pulled some strings that she would have to keep 1 of her coaches with Morisi when the Russian team goes to camp. Team Tutbertize is poised to sweep the ladies podium, would the Fed really want to risk them being without 1 of their coaches? Or perhaps they want to have skaters that are going to be around them 'quarantined' as well to not infect their ladies?

Interesting take and I like it. It makes sense.
 
Hopefully they'll throw money at it to get the ladies the best possible outcome. I remember they made a big deal out of last year's Worlds so they'll probably bring out the big guns for the Olympics!

Yes, basically all georgian skaters are russian-born or at least train in Russia (Alina Urushadze), so I don't think there is much risk in letting them to train there wth their (mostly) teammates.

Well hopefully they won't be training there at the same time and team Georgia will leave before team Russia arrives so the place can get cleaned out.

Haven't a lot less Russians gotten coronavirus this season compared to last season?

Can we assume all figure skaters figure skaters are vaccinated since we haven't heard anything about anybody going to bed shooting 21 days early so they can quarantine?
