Does anyone know what happened with Anna's 4Lz? She was landing it just fine in the channel 1 cup just before worlds and we haven't seen it since. Although I guess she might not need it since she will get high pcs as a world champion.

She will need it. Or the quad flip. Slight growth might have thrown it off a bit, but I'm sure it will be back. Trusova has also hit yet another growth spurt, I'm wondering how she is handling the quads. I saw the lutz, not the others. Trusova desperately needs the 3A for the short program.

My guess is she does whats necessary, she did it just fine at Nationals last season, I mean Danill mentioned at Worlds that she wasn't really training without restriction due to her illness. I think she'll need it or a triple axel for the SP for next season

Trusova isn't consistent on landing them, but one place where she is consistent is being able to do them and rotate them. Nobody is worried about Sasha keeping her jumps.

Maybe Sasha was paired with Daria because Daria has acquired a 3A and 4S, with Loop combo maximisation, and she is now the more dangerous one?

Pretty sure landing is a big part of doing the jump, falling on a cleanly rotated quad is only about 3-4 points.

But the lasting impression is that even a train wreck Trusova program still WON the LP at Worlds. You don't discount a woman who goes from 14th to 3rd overall. When she hits, and obviously even when she doesn't she can still be the best in the world

Her jump from 12 to 3rd at Worlds was assisted by the fact that very few of the top skaters were clean or even had minimal mistakes.

She doesn’t lose any of the bonuses by having a 3A comparatively to Alysa, Wakaba, Rika and Liza. First and foremost, because Alysa and Wakaba still have to show consistent 3A in both programs, a big question mark, especially from Wakaba. Alysa with 3As lost to Daria in juniors, how will she suddenly start winning over Aliona? Aliona will also easily win over Liza, even Kaori without any 3As did so.
Yeah. I do know that a lot of this is still a question mark, but by bonuses (I’m not sure if this is what you meant or not) I was talking about the point advantage in the SP. If everyone else has the extra points from doing the 3A in the SP, then nobody does.

But yeah, I agree a lot of it is still aquestion mark. Plus it’s early in the summer. There is still time..

One of the biggest questions for me this season is if Anna and Sasha have sustained their quads.

Anna's quads was much less consistent last season, but was it because of her illness?

Sasha's quads was again all over the place - hit and miss - but was it because of her injury?

Both girls are 17 now. This is the time when things usually really change. If these two can't do their quads anymore this season, the pessimists and critics will celebrate. If they can do it, then I guess it's proof of that the quad era for women is here to stay.

After her illness Anna had to reduce the trainings and started to train with full load again only shortly before the WTT, so it's natural that there were difficulties with them. But still she fell only once in the whole season, with super complicated programs. The question is how much time of on-ice training the current injury cost her.

She posted on her Instagram she would be back next week so I don't think it cost her much.

From her caption, it looks like her injury happened at the beginning of training camp. They went to Novogorsk at the beginning of June as far as I can tell, and that article posted a few pages ago said she'd be back on the ice next week. So this toe injury cost her 4-5 weeks of ice time. I guess it could be worse.

This might be a stupid question. But, does anybody know when the test skates for junior and senior start? I need to make sure these dates are on my calendar, so, I don’t miss a thing

That's my guess too, and if that's correct, it's not a small amount of time. She can do off-ice things as can be seen from the vid where she wears a shoe and a sandal on the injured leg (just gourd is missing for The Life of Brian), but it will require some time to regain full form and means less time for practicing the new programs. Fortunately Anna is musical, quic-witted and diligent, so I still believe it won't affect her much, there are still two months till the test skates. But I also hope Khrustalnyi will be already prepared for skating again after the flooding when the team returns from Novogorsk.

Senior test skates were announced already, they are scheduled to 11-12 september in Sochi (not in Moscow). Junior test skates usually take place at the beginning of august, because JGP and domestic junior competitions already start in august. I guess it will take place on 31st july/1st august or the week after.

The quad era for women is here to stay regardless. Even if the Eteri/Sergei technique proves to only be sustainable till age 17, there's nothing to stop them from replacing their senior team every two years with new 15 year olds. And other coaches will eventually figure out how to teach quads to older girls. It's not a matter of if, only when.

No one else is thinking Sinitsina needs to take the next step in coaching, wherever that may be?
I don't know about Sinitsyna. I can be wrong, but I think her biggest problem might be her nerves? And I don't see a coaching change fixing that.

I wish her all the best. This season will be a make or break season for her. Her GPs will be super tough and she needs to deliver. The Russian women competition is so cruel sometimes, there is just too many fantastic skaters.
