Its true about Kamila, she'll likely be getting the highest PCS both nationally and internationally regardless, just based on reputation. Whether her music is inspired or her choreography original is unlikely to make more than a fraction of a difference.
Just in general I'm not thrilled with any of the 3 new girls repeating programs. They're first year seniors and Olympic contenders. This could be the first and last time some of them are at the top of the field. How can a program put together for a junior season that barely existed be so brilliant that you're willing to let it be basically your whole career?
I know Daniil may be out of time and ideas, but that's Eteri's fault for annointing him #TheBestAndOnlyChoreographerInTheWorld. And again, the only people it matters to is the irrelevant audience. The scores will be awarded based on other criteria.
Not to sound too salty. Nobody enjoys watching a program they don't enjoy obviously. And I don't enjoy most of Daniil's programs, I find him rather glaringly unmusical. But it's more about the fact that these girls are all slated to have such short careers that it seems so cheap to me to shorten them further by repeating programs.

First of all, skater‘s repertoire of programs is not limited to competitive programs. But skaters and coaches will always ultimately choose what’s best for their competitive results.

There are always reasons why certain programs don’t work, and they choose to keep an old one. For Eunsoo, I remember, she couldn’t get the stsq level with her new program and went back to her old one. God knows, Yuzuru has his reasons to bring back some of his programs for 3rd- 4th season, and we can see that it worked and it helped him to add a missing 4CC gold medal to complete his gold medal collection.

If a skater craves more programs, surely they can have 2 or 3 or 4 programs per season, we saw that happening, didn’t we. But my point would be: there are many other opportunities in life to get as creative as they want, in case that desire wasn’t satisfied in a competitive program.
You also have to consider that probably not every skater thinks of themselves as an „artist“, some probably focus more on being athletes rather than artists during their journey. Perhaps they care more about their athletic achievements, and find an existing program a good vehicle and don’t want to change it?

Not every program is brilliant. I would say I find most programs of SLB from 20-21 season rather bland and unoriginal. However, if they worked well for that athlete and the athlete likes them, then who’s to say they should change anything?
And some programs, even if not brilliant, work better than others. Perhaps a skater feels comfortable with this program, with the layout, with expressing this specific mood or character, and all that helps their consistency. If so, of course there can be a case for keeping a program.

Not sure if you actually care about those reasons, but I think it’s important to consider that not everything is as simplistic as it is in your world view, and that there’s a lot that goes into decision making. Sometimes plans change, i.e. Aliona was originally supposed to have a different SP in 19-20, but probably the program didn’t turn out that well, maybe Aliona didn’t like it, and they had to shelve it and use the Angel program.
Athletes/coaches choose what’s best for them and their career, and not what’s best for random people on the internet. Looks like a healthy approach to life and career to me.

Daniil doesn’t seem to be out of ideas, he created some great programs past season, like Adelia’s sp, Maiia‘s sp, Kamila‘s Storm I find to be brilliant, Anna‘s FS. And, as mentioned, not every family is willing to pay out of pocket for their programs, because the money from the government might not cover the costs for it, while Daniil is a salaried employee and they don’t have to pay extra. Maybe older girls can afford it, but junior ones perhaps not.

You make it sound like it's not deserved.. 😤 Who else should be getting highest PCS if not a skating goddess born in flesh? 😎
She's mesmerizing. Even at the JGPF where she was injured and had no quads she was mesmerizing.

Her videos of when she was teeny tiny, she still had a certain magic.

I sometimes feel things are hokey with certain skaters in terms of scoring. I feel like Kamila goes out and mesmerizes people with her skating. So yup, highest PCS!!! Hopefully!!!!! I'm at the stage where I'm slightly crazy and don't want to praise her out of fear that I'll jinx her 😅

I think that Daniil is excellent at exemplifying strengths of skates as a choreographer. He’s had some truly lovely pieces like Black Swan, Perfume, and Angel. Imo, last year wasn’t his best work. He’s had some nice programs, but none that I thought were particularly special. Kamila had Storm in 2019-2020 as an exhibition program, so it wasn’t new either. However, I am very optimistic for this year especially after that interview about saving good ideas for Olympic years.

I wouldn't be surprised if both Kamila's programs were born as her Oly programs and this season was just practice for the big event. after all she is Tut's Oly hope since she was like 12 I guess. I always have the impression that a special care is put in her and that everything is well planned.
she can do any program for me, I feel super lucky just to be able to watch such marvel.
And they have to give her the best they have, all eyes will be on her and trying to top Storm may be too hard. they can't fail by giving her a lesser program.
I agree though that her PCS would be very high regardless of what she skates to.
but she deserves them :)

Who usually gets invited to Test Skates? The national team or everyone who got GP assignments? I think for someone like Nugumanova it would be smarter to do Lombardia Trophy which is at the same time if I remeber correctly

According to sports.ru Aliona Kostornaia has entered the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism.
(Alina Zagitova attends the same university)

She is apparently on something called a “budget degree”, while Zagitova, who is returning for another bachelor’s degree, is on a “paid degree”. (No idea what that means, maybe Google Translate is messing up?)

"There were different opinions. Some people liked it, some didn't, but that's normal. It cannot be the case that everyone likes the work. On the contrary, I see only pluses in it. If a costume generates controversy, it means it's memorable and there's something in it."

( Olga Ryabenko about the development of a costume for Kamila ; source )

" I can't count how many times Maiia's "Agony Suite" is ringing looping endlessly in my head since."

( Tokyo Drift about Daniil being his prescription regarding musicality gems in Figure Skating )

Wow, Aliona‘s path to the final is brutal... Skate Canada‘s field seems pretty ridiculous overall. Why would you put the three favorites of the three biggest skating countries together at one event? Rika, Kamila and Alysa + Aliona and Liza? Compared to that Rostelecom is positively empty. Just strange.
Kamila and Alysa were juniors so prob not considered "favorites" in the sense of rankings. Russia can only "protect" Kamila from meeting one of Anna, Sasha, or Liza. And they would chose Liza for that. Only really Anna, Sasha, and Liza are the seeded skaters. Liza is the best choice there. Aliona is also "weaker" than Anna or Sasha so they would want that for Kamila too. As for the US, they probably don't have Alysa as their favourite - that's probably Mariah and Bradie.

As for Nugu not receiving a spot. I understand she didn't compete intgernationally for a long time. But viewed through this optics, Vanessa/Eric did not compete together yet at all, so according to the rules that start from the scratch and yet they received two spots. I'm not against it, but then I would expect a spot for Nugu as well.
Canadian pairs is a bit less deep...

- Interesting that Tursynbaeva got one spot

Biggest feeling though is that I am SOOO happy for Ksenia!!

I'm so happy I just want to scream:yahoo:...for a long time...like this:
Elizabet is probably under the returning skaters clause.

I wasn't surprised that Sofia got one spot (I thought she might) and Maiia only got one. International results matter for international competitions (and the standings). But I was surprised (read: delighted) that RusFed submitted Ksenia!! (She has the international results I just..didn't trust the fed to submit her). Yayyyyyy!

Most of the top 24 in the combined SB list 20/21 and the WS list got 2 spots. Here are the exceptions.

Got 1 spot but is not in the top 24 in any list:
Maiia Khromykh (SB 26 WS 67)
This makes me wonder if it's Maiia's spot they traded for to get her a chance at the finals. I could see the RusFed trying to get her a spot and "reserving" the Rostelecom spot for her depending on how she does. If not, they have others.

And Young You. Who also won't be at Skate Canada. But she's added a quad now so I think she'll be back in contention for medals if she hits.

Crazy how "just" having a 3A might not be enough for a medal now.
I mean Liza, Rika, Mirai, Alysa, and Aliona also have 3A's with really all but Alysa being "just" 3As and that hasn't ever guaranteed them a medal. That's been the case for awhile actually.

An ice palace for the Sambo-70 school is planned to be built in the south-west of the capital, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.

The sports facility will be located in the Yasenevo district at the intersection of Novoyasenevsky Avenue with Yasnogorskaya and Tarusskaya streets. Nearby is the Yasenevo station of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line.

"It is planned to complete the construction of the ice palace in the second quarter of 2023," Andrei Bochkarev said.

According to him, the technological task and the concept of the object were developed jointly with the Master of sports of the USSR, the coach of the highest category, the honored coach of Russia Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze.

Sorry I'm confused. Whenever Liza, Rika and Aliona had skated a clean program with 3A, they were pretty much guaranteed a medal? Mirai might be the exception as her score in the team event was pretty low but it still came second in that section. Alysa hasn't skated as a senior yet but she medalled at all her junior events.
