On the other topic, ksenia seems to lose tons of weight and it is a bit worrying, like even junior anna seems to have more muscle than her. I guess that is why they gave her those balon sleeves on the short and tried to hide it with the white shirt over her dress thingy. I hope she is getting healthier as the season goes on.
She's looked like this for over a year. I think she's seriously underweight. And yeah, very difficult to look at. She's not naturally like this at all, but for whatever reason she lost a ton of weight quickly some time ago.

Is this true? I don't watch the skaters' instagrams or tiktoks so I don't see them in real life. I'm sad if it's true, that she lost weight too quickly. But idk, this is my first time seeing her in a year.

What happened though ? I m not very updated in ksenia situation after 2019/2020 season. I knew that she was injured but usually after injury, the skater would gain weight rather than losing such an alarm amount.

I looked back at her Instagram and she seemingly lost all her weight within a few months - sometime between May 2020 and August 2020.

I remember that people were freaking out when she posted in August 2020 (https://www.instagram.com/p/CDhHG_fpNb6/?utm_medium=copy_link). They were saying she didn't even look like the same person. She more or less looks the same now as she did then, so she's maintained that size.

I really don't like to comment on bodies, but it is worrying that she looks even smaller now than she did at 14 during her junior debut, and she's 17 now...people are often concerned with Anna's size, but you can tell that she grows bigger every year, even if she's still quite small. Kseniia has shrunk. Considerably.

Notes on programs
Alena: music is good, Alena is graceful as ever, but IMO, it lacked a few transitions. Baroque style is hard to interpret, don't know why choreographers like Vivaldi so much. But what's important: 3A!!!!!

Anna: heck, the program is GOOD. Music cuts are varied, but flow nicely. This dress is probably not the final one, but I wouldn't mind if she used it.

Elizaveta: music is just right for Liza. Reminds me of her 2015 FP which got me into figure skating to begin with :) The audiences will definitely enjoy it.

Ok what's up with Daniil's hair?????

Kamila: the first part is clearly dedicated to jumps, and probably due to mistakes the rest of the program seemed hectic. Not the biggest fan of this program, the music grows louder, bigger, but it's not reflected in the performance. Not a good composition for a young skater IMO. But with fewer mistakes and more experience, it could get better.

Alexandra: HOW MANY QUADS WAS THAT AGAIN???!! The program is super right for Sasha. If there's one skater that can rock the rock genre, it's her. And choreography/interpretation wise, her performance isn't worse than others, and that's with 5 quads included. If she doesn't go to Olympics, it will be a great, great loss.

Daria: the program is just... ok? It does its job, fits Daria well, will be appreciated by the judges, but not particularly memorable overall.

Ksenia: I loved Queen's Gambit and unsurprisingly love this program. It will probably not get to Olympics, but I'm glad international public will enjoy it at GP events.

Nugu: she is a delightful skater, and the program is just right for her, albeit a bit juniorish.

Sofia: ok, another Disney program. Would have preferred to have it without vocals, just traditional music.

Maiia: Moulin Rouge is overused, but it works for her. With quads, she will be a serious contender for Olympic team (and it's impressive she can jump them with her height).

Omg i love it. Kseniia has the smoothest skating skills around (don't come at me but I think she might even be better than Daria and Aliona 👀).
Yes, I also think that she's better than Daria and Aliona at least, both here and in general.
On the other topic, ksenia seems to lose tons of weight and it is a bit worrying, like even junior anna seems to have more muscle than her.
Also yes :( It was noticeable in summer 2020 already, and she missed most of the following season.
I hesitate to comment much more about body shape except that over in pairs, at a similar build Yuko Kawaguchi was fine (skating-wise at least), but Yulia Antipova was not.
I'm a bit worried about Ksenia in the long term.

After Lp+ SP ... my classification:

1. Sasha -> was the overall winner but she needs to land all quads and that's difficult (ask men's)
2. Kamila -> a bad long LP .. but if she lands 3 quad she beats the 5 quad of sasha ( but not today)
3. Anna + Kostornaia --> if we had to score them for the win .. it would be fifty fifty ... Anna needs a 4 and hope that kostornaia doesn't get one... kostornaia got her 3A back ( and for the words of danii her 4 is a matter of head like her 3A ... so the day she gets her head in order )
4. Liza T --> she needs to be perfect in the perfect moment because with aliona with the 3A back .. will be hard
5. Maiia --> the girl has a 4 and good programas --> the underdog
6. Daria --> same thing always .. but she needs to be perfect to be a choice
..... the others

But to be honest ... everything in russia can change in a minuto ... so only need to be perfect in one moment championships and win that .. that will be the only person who has her spot

It sad .. so much talent and only 3 spots

Daria was lovely as always. I love Nessun Dorma, so it doesn't bother me it's a warhorse and I think it suits her very well. Overall, it's a good program for the Olympic season and I look forward to see her skate it later in the season!

I think Kseniia's program will grow on me with time. It seemed to me today the performance wasn't totally there yet, but it's understandable considering her mistakes early in the program. Well done for trying with the 4T, I really hope she gets it consistent in the future. It's really unfortunate she's not going to have a lot of opportunities in Russia.

Not a lot to say about Liza N. She is a good performer, but with the level of talent in Russia, she doesn't really have a shot. I liked the program, though, probably more than her SP!

Sofia's FS is miles better than her SP. I like the music and I liked the program overall, especially after the start of the step sequence when she seemed to connect more with the music. Again, it's a shame she's clearly not going to have a lot of opportunities. It's really sad seeing her so nervous and tense before she skates, while she was always so sassy in the past, but who could blame her.

Well done to Maiia for her 4T! Such a shame for the mistakes later, but she seems really grown up and mature on the ice now. I don't like the music, but I never like this type of music so that's on me. The program works though, I think it really highlights her strengths and it has some memorable moments.

I know Alena chose her SP music, but personally, I still like her FS music better. That said, I think she was a little disconnected from the music, but it's also because the choreography doesn't really match it (especially in the first part). The second part was more enjoyable! And good for her with the 3A, she really needed it from a mental point of view!

About Anna. I thought the cuts were going to be worse, but I'm not totally convinced by them either. I think the music will grow on me with time, though, and I vastly prefer this to her FS. Is it the best program? At the moment, I don't think so, but I also think it is special and memorable, so I'll take it. She was also really good as usual, so she makes the program good just by virtue of her performance.

Liza T skating style has never been my cup of tea, so I don't have a lot to say about her. I never particularly liked her song choices or her programs and this year is not the exception. That said, she still deserves all of the admiration for still being competitive when a lot of other skaters only last a couple of seasons in Russia.

Kamila's Bolero has something special for me because I never particularly like it, but it still captures my attention every time. I also think it's a program people are going to remember. Clearly, there were mistakes today, but it's the start of the season and the technical content she's trying is hard. I'm sure it's going to get better in time.

What to say about Sasha's jumps... They were mindblowing, I was speechless already at the first 4T, it was huge! The interpretation wasn't there at all like it always happens with her FS, but given the level of technical content that's hardly a surprise. I really hope she keeps this level of consistency throughout all season, especially because the program has the potential to get bad really fast if she starts to fall. That said, I think this type of music and program really suits her and the fierceness of her jumps.

You know what I was thinking. With Trankov and Slyusarenko, when it’s 5 of them, they look like a freaking coaching gang. They’re looking quite badass! No wonder T/M show improvements when there are these 5 right behind them. Now, they need to stand as 5 for ladies/men as well, just for an additional confidence boost 😂
The Coaching Gang sounds like a strange, 90s Pop group. Or early 00's "hip hop" group made up of white men? 🤔

My rankings of the ladies today

1. Sasha - holy moly. Wasn't that something?. I loooooved it. And I think it's the best music she's ever had to any program ever. It suited her brilliantly imo. There was not a lot of choreography in there. A 5 quad program never has (watch Nathan Chen, it's the same the first 2,5 min). And that makes the program vulnerable. If she misses a quad or two (or three!), the program is empty and the score will drop downhill. We have all seen it before. That's why I still think it's a better strategy to have 3 quads plus a 3A. That is perfect maximizing (and Valieva is doing it). Quad 4 and 5 only means you have to take out triples.

2. Anna - loved her program. And she seems in great form despite there is no quads yet. But she's a fighter, they will be there soon.

3. Ksenia - best program today imo. She has still a long way to go jump wise, but the program is beautiful and she is such a wonderful PCS skater.

4. Kamila - not her day today. But that program is cleverly constructed. 3 quads and a 3A (all clean of course) will make her hard to beat.

5. Liza T - loved her program as well. Typical Liza program with even more sass this time. I'm expecting to see changes in this throughout the season as always, but it's a perfect fighter program for Liza.

6. Maiia - the dark horse. Can she skate more clean she can really be a threat for an Olympic spot.

7. Alëna - glad she landed the 3A today, but it was only just. Still not sure about her. I expected her to be much stronger by now after the "vacation" at Plushy's, but there is something missing for me. The magic is not there. And everything seemed unpolished.

8. Daria - today's disappointment. She looked strong yesterday but today she just looked vulnerable.

9. Sofia - her jumps looked even smaller than usual. Won't make an impact this season either.

10. Liza N - love her, but the tech simply isn't there.

She hasn't solidly landed a 3A. Until she's lands it in multiple competitions, let's say she does not have one. Each quad makes up for a missing 3A and then some. It's possible if she does stabilize a 3A, it won't be until after the Olympic season. She won't out PCS the other top ladies lowering tech. Her rivals will benefit if she does 3 quads because she'll likely flub a 3A. Everyone's vulnerable after not landing jumps. Valieva is landing her 3A. If Valieva shouldn't go for a 4Lz, Trusova shouldn't have to rely on a 3A.

I'm in deep doubt Kamilla's FP with 3 quads will prevail over Sasha's 5 quads. At the same quality level, of cause.
3 quads and 3Ax will not help much. The BV is still heavily handicapped.

Five quads with two Qultzes backlogged is a difficult task even for a male skater.

And the whole skating world's praying for Sasha not closing her 3Ax gap. Otherwise the game's over.

But I still want to believe the 3Ax will be hers...
