I don't think she does. So they will give a younger girl a chance

Akatieva
Zhillina
Murieva
Zinina
Petrosian
Levito
Makes no sense to sub her, when Samodelkina posted a score within top 5 this far in jgp even with big mistakes. If they do sub her (which will be absurd), BOTH girls won’t have a chance for JGPF. For now, at least, Sofia looks like she’s making it into jgpf.
Since Petrosian scored less, they could’ve subbed her with either of Lizas. But neither beat Petrosian’s score, hence, Petrosian likely keeps her second spot.

Besides, Samodelkina needs international experience heading into her first senior season next year. She’s got a lot of jumps she needs to learn to land in competition. No way in hell would Rusfed jeopardize their own super star like this. I’m sure they want her to continue what other Russian senior girls are doing.

I’m 99% confident Sofia S. will get a second slot. She not only earned it, but, there is nothing in Daria’s resume that justifies her getting a spot in one of the remaining six slots. All six of the Russian girls have an opportunity to make the Finals. Why would they risk removing the Junior girl who has consistently been the one of their best and has all these quads. Also, she got a bronze and a higher score than Adeliya. So, she is definitely in.

This has probably already been said but I just realised Gubanova is listed for the Finlandia Trophy as well (competing for Georgia)! So I guess her transfer is fully finalised now?

It'll be really nice to see her competing internationally again.

Thanks for that info. Hopefully Nastya can skate pressure free and really shine with her skating skills and beautiful skating. It's interesting to see how she usually got squeezed in domestic events going back four or five years and the same thing is happening to SS now. That said SS needs to take the 3A out of her short program at this point. Her short program is really setting her back.
A clean short program would do wonders for her confidence free skate and that's what her coaching team should be aiming for. Forget about chasing Akatieva and stabilize Samos SP.

Both girls skated their free skate well today but does anyone think Sofia Samo should be 16 points behind Sofia A in the free skate? They both landed multiple ultras and SA had both hands down at one point.

"experts": "TeamTut won't have time for juniors in the Oly season, we shouldn't expect anything extra from them..."
SuperSonic: sets world records in SP TES, FS and total score (while adding 4S to her arsenal)

They need you know who back to help the junior girls and boys out. :)

If they want Samo to look for another country then keep Gubanovaing her. Take a jgp from her? Lol. Sofia has the quads she needs to clean up the short program and then she will be a real challenger to SA. Right now SS starts too far back after the short program every time. Make SS the best she can be and then worry about the number one Sofia after that.

I also want to see other coaches in Russia succeed besides TT & E G.
Right now it's a struggle for Davydov. I like his girls at hope they all make it even though the odds are against it.

I think Akatieva's skating skills just are so pretty. Much rather would watch her skate than any of the others in the final group. Especially Zinina I honestly think is getting pretty overrated or something? I think Kulikova for example was much better, though obviously doesn't have quads. Really don't see much of anything in Zinina's skating otherwise.
I don't think Samodelkina will get a second one: She is currently assigned the last one but i think shell get subbed out six spots left. even if she does I don't think she'll make the final anyway

the other eteri daria who's name i can't remember
And why on earth would they do that? I'd remind you that she scored higher than Petrosyan, so why would you have her over Samodelkina in the first place? And then the fact that you have Sadkova over her makes absolutely no sense. Sadkova has no achievements to speak of, on any level. Samodelkina's got some 4 years of track record, and top three scoring potential with Akatieva and Zhilina.
I've never seen it upside down Smilie you are a genius!
That's probably more of an older one. I know I've been using upside down smilie for over 10 years.

No. This makes no sense. You have Levito and Petrosyan here but Samodelkina just posted a higher score than both of them. (granted, not by much, but the point still stands)

These are the standings after 4 JGPs, with all of these skaters having performed at one competition each.
  1. Akatieva 233.08 (Gold)
  2. Zhilina 216.92 (Gold)
  3. Muravieva 208.25 (Silver)
  4. Zinina 206.20 (Silver)
  5. Samodelkina 202.39 (Bronze)
  6. Levito 202.35 (Gold)
  7. Petrosyan 201.21 (Bronze)
With Samodelkina in 5th place and the qualification likely to rely on scores rather than just medal standings, I think it‘s pretty clear she‘ll get a second one.

In fact, if we look at the assignments and who's likely to get a second one, we have 6 girls with a podium finish who also have a great chance at the final and 3 who won‘t get a second one. There‘s no point whatsoever in giving Sadkova a JGP now when she won't even have the chance to earn a second spot AND this would possibly ruin the chances of an all 6 Russian JGPF. It‘s a shame she was injured (I think she has greater potential than Berestovskaia) but that‘s just the way it is sometimes.

Here‘s how I think it‘ll end up being:

Akatieva (2)
Zhilina (2)
Muravieva (2)
Zinina (2)
Samodelkina (2)
Petrosyan (2)
Zakharova (1)
Berestovskaia (1)
Kulikova (1)

They are succeeding though. Eteri has only 2 girls on junior circuit and no boys this year. Davydov and Plushenko both have 3 girls + Sarnovksy for Plushenko. I don’t get the complaint.

Sofia S NEEDS to take the 3A out of her SP. She could have gotten 10 more points here had she just gone clean in the SP with a 3Lz+3T. The 3A+3T combo is historically just not worth it unless you are really consistent - like Sofia Akatieva is, and like Sofia S had been last season. Once she gets her 3A consistent again, she can put it back, but as it stands, simply going for 3Lz+3T in the second half is a much better strategy. And not giving her a second spot would just be stupid - she beat Isabeau and Adeliia here despite having a huge mistake in the SP and a pretty big mistake in the FS (that 3S<< cost her like 3-4 points as well) while they both went relatively clean. If she can get a little more consistent and rotate her quads a bit better than she is totally in the mix with Zhilina and Akatieva.

Thank you @Fluture for explaining exactly why it’s obvious Samodelkina will get a 2nd spot. There are only 6 spots left so if they want an all-Russian JGPF no one new will be getting a spot.

As for the fantastic performances today, it’s made me more excited than ever for senior nationals this year. The expected roster can be:
  1. Shcherbakova
  2. Valieva
  3. Trusova
  4. Tuktamysheva
  5. Kostornaia
  6. Khromykh
  7. Usacheva
  8. Sinitsyna
  9. Samodurova
  10. Akatieva
  11. Samodelkina
  12. Zinina
  13. Muravyeva
  14. Petrosyan
with 4 spots remaining for Nugumanova, Frolova, Guliakova, Tsibinova, Shulskaya, Berestovskaya, Zakharova, Molchanova, Onnichinkova, etc.
Anyone who makes the top 12 would be good enough to make the podium in any other country including Japan.

And lastly between these 6 juniors (3x Sofia + Veronika + Nastya Z + Adelia) the competition for the junior world team will be just as fierce as the senior Olympic team. Looks a like a great season coming up!

Yes. And there is even more girls that can go for it. The Russian Cups will be brutal!
