Completely unrelated, but is Titova JGP eligible next season? I really enjoyed her performances this weekend, she is just adorable!

If the reports turn out to be true, I'm heartbroken for Veronika. She was looking so strong! I hope she'll heal quickly and be back on the ice as soon as she can be.

She is, along with Dvoyeglazova, Dzepka, Shcherbinina and Rubtsova. Dzepka, from what I know, unfortunately is not planning to compete any longer.
Shcherbinina competed recently at a Russian cup event, and was very lovely. Good basics and huge jumps for her age. The jumps in particular really impressive, she’s got that natural spring in them.

Others, like Kulikova and Paromonova are already eligible this year. Even getting onto JGP in Russia is super tough, the competition is insane.
Especially because Sofia A, Nika Zh will still be in juniors next season.

:thank: I liked Dvoeglazova this weekend too, and Rubtsova is obviously very good as well. I don't know much about Shcherbinina, I'll have to go and watch her.

Looks like it'll be another JGP season where some skaters that probably deserve two spots will only get one or none at all. Gotta love Russian competition 😅

A torn ligament is much worse. Depending on which ligament it is and how severe it is, she could be out for anywhere from 6 weeks to a year according to Google.
And Dr. Google doesn’t take into account the time that it will take to get back on the ice and restore jumps and such.

I mean… it’s still pretty bad. I believe Anna said that for her it was 6 weeks in a cast. So 6 weeks of doing barely anything, then once she can walk/run decently, she can start to skate. Not jump. One she can do that, then it’s singles, then doubles, then triples. Then competing. IIRC, Anna said that the doctors though she wouldn’t skate again.

I found this video. It’s Anna’s first time on the ice after her broken leg.
What? Veronika is hurt? I hope it's not as bad as Anna's broken leg. That's just so horrible and I hope it is not a hint of things to come for the Russian ladies.

Anna's comeback from a broken leg as a figure skater is incredible. Now I heard a rumor that she has her quad's back. Watch out!

It wasn't specified which, but Google translate had it as 'ankle ligament tear, not a fracture'. It would make sense considering her ankle bandage from training previously :/

Zhukov updated his post and apparently it's a torn ligament 😮 For a skater, is that better or worse?
Worse. A torn ligament - depending on what it is - can lead to years and years of instability in the leg and nagging issues.

A clean break is easier to heal from (assuming the surrounding ligaments stay intact) and leads to less lasting issues.

Also you have to check out Vazhnova (5th overall). I really really liked her. She has potential.

IF she takes any time off ice to heal…

That’s a snapshot from Plushchenko’s Instagram stories from today, where his son is jumping axels with a cast on the broken arm and, suddenly, Veronika appears training on one skate…

I am speechless this time. They are risking these kids entire future by not letting take time off and heal properly. They are not going to the Olympics, this season isn’t important, so why???

Let’s hope that the media got it wrong and the injury is less serious than reported.

(I don’t know how to link the IG story)

That is crazy and wrong. No words. There is nothing productive she could possibly be doing with one skate on. Reeks of incompetence on the coach's part.

Well, if she had a broken bone I assume she'd have a cast on so it's probably not that. It's hard to tell if her ankle's wrapped at all or not.

I'm just wondering what she could possibly accomplish by training with one skate on. Like, seriously. What is the point?

That is absolutely messed up.

I will repeat here what many people have commented in that another site post, as I agree with it 100%:

If Anna, who is training for the Olympics, can take a month and a half to rest from a broken toe, then Veronika can take time off to heal from a broken leg/leg injury, especially since she wouldn’t be going anywhere more than Jr. Worlds.

I don’t know who or what allowed this, but this is completely ridiculous and just plain incompetence on whoever ok’d that..

Torn ligaments are worse - I've broken bones and ligaments before, the bones healed and are fine, years later the ligaments are still not 'right'.

Have we heard anything official from either AoP or Zhilina's mother/coach If not, I'm going to hold out hope that she's on the ice and the injury is not as serious as its been reported so far

They also just posted this, everyone’s jumping on 2 legs and Veronika on one… well, surely her mom is more informed about her condition and it’s probably less serious than reported, if she’s allowing her daughter to train on one leg. Let’s hope she’ll heal quickly.

Strange though that she appears to be able to walk on both legs at the end

I think on one of the videos from 5 days ago she was constantly hopping on one leg, when they were doing off ice training and not putting the other leg down at all. If she can step on both legs now, probably she’s feeling better than before.
