Whyyyyyyy is Dudakov letting her and Sofia jump like that 🄲 I think Adelia also is picking up the bad habit. Ugh. It’s just not correct, and it looks so bad šŸ˜ž
Its easier and they dont lose any points, why should he care if its correct?
Quads are hard and these are the first girls to do them, so I can forgive the weak technique (less so the blind judging). The sport will continue to move forward and sooner or later we'll have girls jumping quads with great technique - we just have to be patient.

I’m fairly certain that particular technique is why Kamila has had ankle/lower leg injuries. If I’m wrong there, I don’t know if I like the ā€œquads are hardā€ excuse because Sasha and Anna don’t have that problem, and they were ā€œthe Firstsā€ and because Kamila does it between 3-3 combos as well. Maia also doesn’t have the problem in practice videos, Sofia Samodelkina doesn’t have the problem, Zhilina *almost* fell into it but seems to not have it either… etc.

I fully agree and hate the weird wobble and edge changes they do--it's truly hideous. But you can do a 3T out of an Eu--because it lands on an inside edge, so I'm not quite sure what you mean here...
I just typed too fast and mixed up the combo order— I meant a 4T-Eu-3S, not 4S-Eu-3T.

Quads are hard

Kamila has this bad technique on her 3-3 combos and has always had it. Her solo 4T, however, has very nice technique, so itā€˜s not about quads at all.

This is the only reason. As for why he should care - well, constantly landing on an inside edge can lead to injuries in the long-term but since there currently is no real "long-term" for Russian ladies anyway… who cares, I guess.

I wonder if Kostornaia will go for the 3A attempt in the free? I know runthrough is not representative of what she'll deliver on the ice, but there isn't a 3A there.
I think sheā€˜ll attempt it in the FS but possibly not in the SP. Anyway, this constant kind of switching around with the layout is pretty worrisome. Seems like sheā€˜s not at all secure with the 3A yet…

well, constantly landing on an inside edge can lead to injuries
She doesn’t constantly land on an inside edge. That’s just not true. She lands on a proper back outside edge. She had a few inside edge landings over the years, like 4T on test skates at her 1st junior season or 3A on 1TV channel cup FS, but it happens very occasionally.

It has to do with her 3toe jump/combo technique, she has an issue with using the flow of the first jump to gain momentum for the second jump. That however is not an uncommon problem, not that easy to fix and definitely not exclusive to Kamila.

I am sad seeing Kamila do a 4S-Eu-wobble-3T instead of turning her 4S-Eu-wobble-2T into a 4S-Eu-2T.

if you are talking about that weird hop/edge change/"wobble" that Kamila does in her jumps believe it or not that is actually a feature in the code.

I've notice more juniors are doing it especially the boys. I think Sadkova has it and couple of American ladies are starting doing it. I was actually surprised that a japanese skater was doing it couple of season ago

I get that it is a hard since it changes edge and can cause a fall and also changes momentum going to the next jump but it is definitely not the most pleasing in the eye.

Yes but they all have issues - taking off/landing on wrong edges, excessive prerotations, "full-blade" assists, super piked backs, blah blah blah. All of them use some cheat or other to get a jump they can't otherwise do, none is a model of technique.

I guess I could have been more clear, that these girls can both do quads and have obvious technical flaws (not necessarily on the quads). Very few skaters, even those without quads, have perfect technique on all their jumps and combos. It's too soon in the ladies quad revolution to expect someone on the level on Chen/Hanyu, who has near perfect jump technique all around, as well as a mastery of quad rotation.

I actually think her 3-3 rhythm is always a question. It has a weird stop and adjust between jumps like the 2nd jump is always coming from no speed...her other elements are all great like 3A is a miracle but the jump combo is not my favorite

Y'all complained about Kamila's SP dress, so now she has a new one that's much worse 😭😭
I think grey and orange is just such a bad color combo on anyone but especially here because that warm grey on a warm toned skin color will wash you out and peach on a fair skinned color will likewise do the same. The design I really like, and I’m glad they found a compromise on the skirt length, but the colors could have been chosen better. Scared to see what they come up with for the rest of them 🤣

I’m glad the scoring today reflected that Kamila shouldn’t just be able to have pretty lines with her long limbs and extensions hitting the musical accents to get good PCS in an actual competitive field.

I’m a little disappointed Aliona held back on the 3A because I think she could have squeezed out a lead, but I guess I can’t understand the logic of her coaches telling her to hold back since I’m not there with them.

Liza grows on me every time I see her skate. I wish she’d cut the skirts of her dresses better though. Opposite length problem from Kamila.

Interesting all three were scored almost equal on PCS. Don’t know if that was intentional since I don’t think I would’ve necessarily given them those scores.

The dress from last year's short program was so beautiful why change it since it was such a short season and almost no one saw her in that dress unless you were a fan of the Russian ladies? Sometimes I think KV it's just too brilliant. I hope they can let her simplify things in the future. I expect her to put up big numbers in the Finlandia free skate and take 1st place. But that is certainly no certainty.

Aliona needs to get that triple axel back and put the pressure on everyone else.

Liza keeps on trucking and the free skate will be very interesting even though it's an early season competition. She is in real play for the 3rd spot for the Olympic team. Or she will play for the 1st spot? ;)

How did Nastya do? I am assuming she has dual citizenship with Russia and Georgia and it's just representing Georgia internationally as many other Russian skaters are doing.

She said she'll be attempting it in the free! At least 1 and if that goes well then the other.

She did pretty good. Clean performance although the score was lower than I expected because I thought she'd break 70.
