Very, very happy for Sofia. She skated a little more cautiously than in Kosice (or maybe that‘s me projecting because I was very nervous for her ) but she got it done and has qualified to the final!! And yes, maybe it shows my bad taste but I still love this program (minus the gunshot).

Sad about Zinina because I do believe she would deserve a JGPF spot. But well… those are the rules, I guess… However, she is not on the same level as Sofia (and Isabeau) when it comes to presentation and charisma. For her, it‘s still all about the quads and you could see that today (and yesterday in the SP). But she‘s still young so I‘m sure we‘ll see a lot more from her.

Now onto Finlandia Trophy SP where I have some catching up to do.
What are you saying Nastys Z the most charming Junior girl is not going to be in the Junior Grand Prix final? :( She has a very big upside. I was trying to thnnk who she reminds me of and I guess it's Alisa Lozko. Especially the smile.

Plushy has a gem. I hope he lets her develope gradually. She seems taller than all the girls and that will take her longer to develop.

Sometimes I think at such a young age doing quads is not worth the risk. Especially since we know everyone in juniors is playing for 2nd place behind SA.

Good luck to all the ladies in Is the finlandia challenger today. I hope they do well and that their coaches don't need Finlandia vodka after after the event. ;)

Zinina would have lost to Muravieva and Levito without quads as well, so she didn't really have a choice. Muravieva is the only one who can (barely) afford to skate without quads for now, but not indefinitely if she wants a future in Russian skatinng.

ETA: Zinina is only 155 cm tall, the same as Muravieva.

Kamila has a lot to be proud of! Broke 2 world records in her first senior competition and she can only go up from here. SHATTERED the free skate record. However the first minute and a half was completely empty until the quads were done and she didn't really come alive until the end of the program.

Tuk is Tuk. Sold the program, landed the jumps. She's off to a good start for the season, but she doesn't do anything for me. I can see why she won in PCS for this segment though, the crowd was behind her the whole way.

I'm not sure what's going on with Aliona but I dont have a good feeling about it. It looked like she didn't want to be out there. She doesnt have the speed, charisma or confidence she used to have. She scored lower in the FS and lower in PCS than Loena Hendrickx and also behind Karen in PCS...that means there is a big problem and the judges are noticing. This is unheard of for her. I'm concerned and I hope she's alright.

As for Aliona, though it was not what she was two years ago, it was better than the whole last season. Remember it was her first international competition in nearly two years. Still I think that her score is lower than it should be, at least components, when I compare it with the other components at this competition (yes, Liza's 73 is just a worlds silver medal frinedly, not today's skate friendly).

Kamila's result was so so well deserved. I really believe she can get much more out of it, but she did exactly what she needed to. And I really liked how the scoring reflected the triples don't get as much love while her beautiful quads do. It just felt right to me and gave the record more weight IMO. Of course some may not like the slight wobble in the quad but she's not getting +5. I feel like it's reflected since without it, they should be +5 across the board given the quality of her quads.

Liza with 3 clean triple axels. Her hard work through all those years, getting better all the time at this age. Maybe her PCS isn't as good as others but my God is she still improving and her programs are way more complex than a few years ago with transitions and general skating, then also faster more complex spins and better positions. If someone said she was an Eteri skater I would believe it. And with all this she's still managing the jumps. She must have been working on her stamina loads.

This performance is why I don't think Alëna's problems can be explained away so easily by something like leg wrap. It's the easy go-to. In the past she could launch so easily, but now it takes every ounce of strength. And she would get into jumps more like an elastic band and have much more initial torque (which IMO is the main problem now). That would also explain the slower general skating and spin speed. Her body has not had the same level of strength for a while, no need to skate around that fact.

Good competition overall.

I thought she looked shocked after the first 2 mistakes, she probably was not expecting to step out of the lutz. It likely was a fluke mistake, but it threw her off completely. She sorta started to panic and her mind was all busy trying to calculate where to put that 2T, which also made her slow down and do the rest her program very cautiously.
After her SP, I really hoped her confidence she lost last season, was back. It’s not, but I hope this competition makes her angry in a good way. Her RCF performances made her angry enough to fight to get her 3-3 and 3A back. I really hope this setback will bring out flighter Aliona.

I also didn’t expect her scores to be this low, but it is what it is. It should help her to take her out of her comfort zone. However, if she was getting these same scores with another coach, I’m sure we’d be getting never ending conspiracy theories.

I haven’t had time to watch the programs yet but I did see photos on Instagram and CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHATS GOING ON WITH OLGA?!

3 costumes for Bolero and I have decided the practice jumpsuit is still the best. Aliona’s dress is just.. confusing?? I don’t get it, these do not flatter the girls. What happened to Anna Perfume Olga?

This is the least ugly of the 3 Bolero costumes, maybe after another 3 or 4 attempts it won't be ugly

The heads of figure skating need to come together where where the artistry and interpretation and other aspects of presentation are a factor who have it and penalize those who don't. Just the way those who can't do quads and triple axles get penalized for that it should be the same way with those who don't have artistry interpretation and presence should get penalized for that but they don't
I miss Romeo and Juliet Aliona
I miss Romeo and Juliet Anastasia. ;)

I think they did Romeo and Juliet's the same season and it was fantastic. Aleona will be fine once she gets those two 3As s down in a free skate. I think that's very doable for her.
Not easy but doable.

Yes I agree with Alionya dress, makes her look like a granny. Anna's Perfume dress was exquisite. I do not like the full sleeved enclosed glove effect. They are becoming very generic looking! Alionya is stunningly beautiful. Remember Kamila's Chiffon dress and Alina Zagitova had beautiful individual dresses.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I actually like the new costume except for the random snake

I didn't think the black and green one was THAT bad, but the brown one was just ugly. Olga's costumes have become very hit or miss recently.

That's what I didn't understand, she HAD to put the 2t after her second lutz, otherwise get the SEQ. I haven't seen the protocols but she was called for that, right?

I don't know if you were kidding or not, but I was curious too and checked her Instagram. If there isn't a translation problem, she had some sort of illness and then was only able to start rushing all her dresses for the new season starting from July. She also just bought and started using new equipment for this season, so maybe she's getting used to that?

Also, she was recently working on her daughter's wedding dress - at least that one isn't ugly

She got the REP. I think she panicked and just put that 2T in after the 2A. Surely the coaches have talked to her about this scenario, as her Lutz has always been her weakest jump and this must have happened a lot during practice.
