Not a fan of Anna sp dress. It looks like a rehash of Alena adio dress from Eteri show this year except with a terrible fluorescent orange. Honestly none of Eteri girls dresses this year look like Olympic dresses. I hope these are all temporary and we will new one when GP start.

Don't want to put a dampener on things - but I will.

Does anyone else feel let down so far? At least from Sambo-70. I kind of expected a lot more. The music and choreography, the technical quality, the costumes.

1) The programs- I feel like for almost every single skater you can find a past program that was better both music/choreography-wise. It's kind of unbelievable. Sasha's new FS at least was good. For all the talk of Daniil having saved lots of ideas for the Olympics season, he probably switched the files and gave those programs out in 2020. I'm still holding the slim shred of hope he scrunches up the program sheet for the skaters and they just go back and do a greatest hits.

2) Technically- If you consider how last season Kamila came out with 3A and 4S, Maiia with 4T and 4S. All of them having a rippon 2A. They all had more flexible spins. This season I was excited about who would be bringing out new jumps, new anything...the answer is no one. And Anna due to injury is at that deja-vu of stabilising her 4F/4Lz, Aliona stamina issues and frankly looked better during the April exhos, Daria still with no ultra-c, Sasha inconclusive mentally, 3A is still impossible for her. Kamila pretty good and Maiia can rotate those quads easy. But no new jumps, it's been a case of saving what you have.

3) Costumes - I get that their designer Olga was sick, but the consequence is lackluster costumes all around.

I can't help but be shocked given how polished the Eteri-skaters came out during the Covid season. The Covid season! Right from the start of the year, from test-skates. Comparatively it's all a bit of a disaster. Yet the chances of winning Olympic gold keep shooting up so that's something.

I think we've seen what is expected.

1. Programs is always a bit of taste. Some will like it, some will not. Me, as an Anna fan, hated her programs last year and I always muted when she was skating. So for me, this SP program was fantastic. Also, I like Maiia's, and I loove Sasha's both programs (the best she's had imo). Can't stand Bolero, but we all knew Valieva would have that this season as well. Overall the programs is not that important to me. Yes it's great if it is to some music I like, but that is rarely the case.

2. When we think about it, senior skaters do not often surprise us with new tricks, that is something that juniors do. We still don't know what's to come, maybe a few surprises, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is it. It's early in the season, and some have had some injuries, so they might upgrade later.

3. Couldn't care less about the costumes, they're fine to me. And this shouldn't be a point really, as it is totally outside the sport.

For me, at this point, is to see where the skaters are stamina wise. And to see how much they need to polish/upgrade technically. So far, Sasha blew my mind with her fantastic skate at Test Skates, I didn't think that was possible. Kamila also surprised me with her Finlandia skate and a new world record proves that. She lost her 3A though so there is definitely work needed there. And Anna and Maiia did good today, Some finetuning needed there as well, but it will be interesting to see what they can bring tomorrow. The only one that has disapppointed me so far is Alëna. To me it seems that her heart isn't in it, and she looks unpoIished overall. She has A LOT of work to do to get back in past form.

Liza is the biggest surprise for me so far. She had a troublesome season last year, but somehow she got that ticket to Worlds, and somehow she managed to grab a silver. She is much better than that now. She seems better than ever! Very exciting to see if she can hold this high level through the season, if so, she will be a contender for an Olympic ticket.

Can't wait to see what Ksenia and Daria can bring next week at SA. And of course Trusova!

Haha, we all want more from Sambo-70.

Regarding 1) The programs and 3) Costumes : different people have different opinions and tastes. Besides, they still have time to fine-tune both. For example, Kamila mentioned that they might make some costume changes even after the third version.

Regarding 2) Technically: this is not the best time to introduce new elements, unless you are absolutely sure. This is the big season and you don't want to take too much risk.

I think last week and this week are perfect illustrations as to why you can't compare scores between competitions; Finlandia was very generous to the top skaters, Budapest not so much.
Budapest is not normally a draw for top skaters. Only this season they actually managed to enlist the world champion to show up. Based on how stingy and strict they are scoring her they'll return to getting runins in the foreseeable future.

Sofia Samodurova was great today ! I like the dress and she sell this sp very well today ! I was dissapoint that she didn't get minimum 70 points for this SP. It seem to me to be one of the best sp that she did in the past year and wasn't able to have at least 70 points for this skate. I was happy with her skate but dissapoint about her result. Even Maiia was underscore. Only Anna was judge correctly to me. I would have give some points to Sofia and Maiia but Anna was score correctly to me.

But the thing is that they didn't come out last season amazingly. You mentioned Kamila and Maiia's new jumps but remember that both of them took time to stabilize them. Maiia quite literally didn't land them until her last competition - the Cup Final! (a date that would be far too late for Euros or Olympics selection). Maiia didn't introduce her 4S until her second stage (the 4th stage), where she fell on an underrotated attempt in November. Kamila didn't introduce her 3A until her second cup stage (the 5th stage), in December. Kamila didn't introduce the 4S until the Cup Final (where she fell on it), in late February. That's also where Maiia first landed her 4T and 4S. So it's a mistake to say that "Kamila came out with a 3A and 4S, Maiia with a 4T and 4S". They didn't have them at the beginning of last season - you could argue they JUST got them at the same time the Olympics would be held this season. Anna regardless of injury or illness always starts out without her quads and adds them back. That was the plan last year BEFORE she got sick. Daria got injured.

And that IS the point of an Olympic season. They know it's long and they actually CAN'T peak here. It would be foolish to do so. They can't risk injury in the slightest and they have to progressively build towards RusNats, Euros, the finally the Olympics.

It's the start of the season. It's October. (Significantly earlier than the jumps you mentioned they "came out with last season")

(As a side note: programs and costumes are subjective)

Though not because scoring in Krasnoyarsk was so high, but because scoring in Gdansk was so low.
Lol, good one. Tell us another!

My favourite is not just there aren’t enough Russians in the JGPF but the scoring in Krasnoyarsk wasn’t biased or generous to particularly Russian skaters.

Next thing you’ll tell us is the Russian GP is totally fair for non-Russians. 😂

So...you're point is, (in the Russian Women's thread I might add), that all Russian women are overscored?
