Why cant they just leave the Russian girls and fed alone? s there Russian coach that ever talks about non russian skaters?
Sometimes, not always entirely positively, but I do not remember they would ever publicly doubt about training methods or treatment, like "they teach this or that a bad way", "they cause anorexia", "they torture kids" etc., at least from what I know :)

There are, especially if they were asked by journalist. For example is TAT, she loved to talk how cold Yuna skate was and she was Mao's coach, Yuna's direct rival, so her intention more or less was the same as Brian here probably.

Who will Russia send to take Sashas place at NHK? Please no sanodurova or Konstantinova. Maybe Guliakova? Frovlova? sending anna would mean she cant bolt rusfed after this season. Samodelkina? Isnt she 15 before July 1, 2021 and has a 3A and quads?

Samodelkina is almost a year younger than Valieva so she's not eligible. Have to be 16 by the closing date not 15.

Your kidding? Alina was 15 by July 1, 2017 and got to skate and win that GPF? No?

Age limit is still 15, but Samodelkina is only 14, (She will turn 15 in February and be senior eligible next season.) Plus, Samodelkina already skated on the JGP earlier this season, so she can’t skate on the Senior GP.

Also, because it’s not a host spot, I don’t think that Russia gets to choose anyone to send. The spot goes to the next eligible skater on the list.

(There is also a chance that it doesn’t go to anyone because of Japan’s quarantine rules, which is why the skaters had to leave today.)

Well TAT is just a sample of non-diplomacy and unethicality. Among the coaches of the new era, I cannot recall examples of such behavior.

That's when Eteri starts saying, "You know, I love and respect your Satoko insanely. She is a real veteran, she has refined skating, she deserves to go to the Olympics, so write it down in your note", in that case, yes - Houston we have a problem  In this case, I will be the first to say "Eteri is behaving unethically! How can she say that?"

TAT is history, it's not important.

I hope her foot heals and Sasha is flying again by rusnats. foot injuries are tricky especially for figure skaters.
Could they swap Aliona and Sasha? I don’t know if that’s “legal” or not.

With Sasha's withdrawal from the NHK trophy a Russian GPF is still likely considering that Kami is 1st or 2nd in RC, Anna if she is 1st or 2nd in France, Daria (if she is 1st or 2nd in NHK trophy), Maiia (if she is 2nd or 3rd in RC), Liza (if she is 2nd or 3rd in RC) and for the last spot Alena (it would have to be 2nd in France and Young You should be 3rd in NHK). It is still very possible, fingers crossed.

Well that solves that thank you very much. I of course thought she was 15 not 14.

The spot should go to Russia and then if they don't send anyone it should go to the next eligible.

I would think so. But there's no telling when sasha will be back I just hope Russian nationals is not in doubt at this point
Another user said that she had recovered it just wasn’t long enough preparation time from her return to ice to get back to competitive shape before NHK, so hopefully she’ll be back and ready to kill it at RusNats.

I think there is a reasonable chance for Sakamoto to win the event and for Young You to take silver
That way they both potentially can go to GPF

In the context or not, the coach of the main competitor of the Russian girls should not have discussed the choice of the future Russian Olympic team. These are the basics of ethics.

Then I would expect Mishin's spouse (Isn't she a coach as well) to abide by this same code of ethics, and not to have offered her own salty opinions on Jason Brown. ;)

Brian was perfectly ethical, he answered the question, which was about Liza, and was gracious in his praise. Many women from many coaching centers represent Russia, represent it well, and do marvelously by their country.

To make an analogy, I may love Jason, but if Eteri T talked about how wonderful Nathan/Vincent/Ilia were, in response to a direct question, I would not consider it an ethical lapse. Nor is this.

Well, Mishin and his wife are also people of the old generation. And yes, this statement was also unethical.

It's very simple, it's not rocket science. It's about a conflict of interest - in both cases, both with Mishin's wife and with Orser, this objectively exists. In both cases, both should be silent or say common words blah, blah, everyone is wonderful, the grass is green and the sky is blue.
