Has anyone noticed that Eteri is never with Anna? She didn’t even take a picture with her after the free skate. She was not with her at the kiss & cry. I get the impression that something is off in their relationship. The way Eteri hugged Anna after she had become OGM was so cold.

Also, the IG accounts of team tutberidze and Daniil deleted posts about the medalling ceremony, I find this unfair to Anna. I understand the situation but she deserves this medal and the recognition.

Eteri couldn't be at K&C with Anya, as she was with Kamila starting just after Anna. Stop these stupid insinuations.

After seeing the photos and videos of the gala rehearsals, I can see that something really broke in the relationship between Anna and Sasha. I hope Anna can get through this and not have it overshadow her triumph. Watch Eteri and Sasha on good terms, hugging each other, taking photos and smiling. This makes me think that perhaps no one will go anywhere and they will have to continue sharing a coach, only time will tell.

I really hope that's not true. I mean I can understand it at this very moment when memories of the day are still strong but I would like to think they can leave the competition on ice and stay friends as they were. Everyone: Shcherbakova has won the Olympics, she is close to the "beloved" Eteri expiration date, she's totally retiring.
Shcherbakova: Excuse me while I whip out a couple insane quad-triple combinations, oh and by the way here's a quad loop I've been working on for good measure.

The quad loop was an 'okay' attempt, especially considering the circumstances (show lighting, relatively new boots and not been attempting that the last few weeks). I'd be curious to know how long she's been working on it and what's the situation with a triple axel. She had mentioned last year that once she restored her quad lutz and flip that she planned on working on the triple axel. With some of the Russian juniors coming up next year and the year after she might really need a triple axel in addition to her quads.

Yeah the gala shows the disruption between Anna and Alexandra’s relationship. It’s sad cause Anna actually always was close with Alena and Alexandra seperatly. It was Alena and Alexandra who didn’t really like eachother but both were fine with Anna. Anna never was one of my favorites but I commend her for being extremely nice and looking at others on a human level. I understand Trusova’s outburst but a little self-control would t hurt her . It’s not the end of the world

Well in fairness, Shcherbakova after her Nationals skate did not have an absolute emotional meltdown, Valieva had a meltdown and Trusova I thought was borderline on the verge of like a panic attack (the striking thing to me when Valieva went backstage after her skate and we saw Trusova was in the background crying was the rigidity of 1 her hands).

Probably one of the endearing things about Shcherbakova is that she quietly goes about her stuff and doesn't appear to make a fuss about herself, but probably lends to her getting overlooked a bit.

when Daniil just joined TeamTut, he was given a group of 10 year olds; Anya was one of them, you could say his first student in TT

I first noticed this at Worlds in 2021 with the Eteri (Anna) versus Plushenko (Alexandra) rivalry. Alexandra was skating lights out in practice landing multiple quads and Anna was really struggling and couldn’t land a quad in the practice reports and was even struggling with some of the triples. From what I observed, Anna was being scolded by Eteri, to will her to do better so she could be more competitive and that seemed to shake Anna, a bit, and made her emotional. Daniil had to step up and become the calm coach presence for Anna and even though Anna fell in the quad, during the competition, she landed all the other triples and won gold. In the kiss n cry, it was Anna and Daniil with Eteri very distant. So, since then, it is Daniil who Anna seeks. Just an observation.

Also, in regards to the results, in 2018, Alina won over Evgenia due to one strategic combo, the 3Lz 3Lo. In 2022, Anna couldn’t skate any better than she did. But, looking at the protocols, her 3Lz 3Lo really made a difference here. Trusova repeats 4Lz and adds 3T to two combos. Anna repeats 4F, but, the 3Lo added to the 3Lz, allows her to also add two 3Lz instead of 3T to her program. The advantage of this layout gives her a +4 to +5 add on to her free skate program.

The combos with triple loops are my favourite combos, as they are very rare. So, I’m happy at doing the math and discovering the advantage of mastering such a combo and how it has made the difference between gold and silver, at the last two Olympics.

Well, there were some rumors that Eteri was distancing herself from Anna since Kamila was now the favorite, and maybe they thought the momentum was with Sasha, not Anna. The general trend seems to be that everyone underestimates Anna. I have no idea what is really going on within that team, but I don't really care who Eteri favors. There are three coaches on that team, and Anna has always been closest to Danill from what I can see. Alina was closest to Danill too. This is the second Olympics where Eteri's perceived favorite/chosen one did not win. Based on this record, I would probably not want to be Eteri's favorite. Now that Anna has the OGM, I hope she does what she wants, on her own terms. If she wants to stay and skate, I would love to see her in more competitions. If she wants to move on to bigger and better things, I am sure Anna will find great success in whatever she does.

Something Anna related: I saw a bit of video where Kaori reacted to the realization that she had won bronze. Anna was sitting on the seat next to her. Kaori was jubilant and Anna took this in but was restrained at having won the gold. However, as Kaori reached over and hugged Anna, Anna not only accepted the hug but hugged back, patting Kaori on the back in a tender and supportive gesture, despite her own state of seeming numbness. It made me see Anna in a different light.
