Lilah Fear had a significant twizzle error in the FD, I thought? But Green & Parsons were a clear fourth in both segments, in any case.

I was in the audience at Skate Canada and IMHO Green/Parsons’ skill level (both technical and artistic) and overall potential are noticeably greater than that of either Fear/Gibson or Carreira/Ponomarenko. I fully expect them to be the top US team over the next quad.Unfortunately I couldn't watch the competition, but I'm amazed that no one here is commenting about Green & Parsons being 4th at Skate Canada, well ahead of the Brits (though it looks like they underperformed?). Did anyone watch and have something to say about the programs?
That's exciting to hear! I need to pay more attention to the upcoming dance couples. Glad not every successful US team is from Gadbois, simply because it is nice to see varying perspectives and creative influences.I was in the audience at Skate Canada and IMHO Green/Parsons’ skill level (both technical and artistic) and overall potential are noticeably greater than that of either Fear/Gibson or Carreira/Ponomarenko. Green and Parsons: Moving Out of Their Comfort Zone - U.S. Figure Skating
Caroline Green and Michael Parsons saw early success when they teamed up in 2019. They won two Challenger Series medals in their first season and placed in the topusfigureskatingfanzone.com
I have to love a team that does The Worm in a program. Just cannot help it.I have a soft spot for Molly & YegorBeen following them since they paired up as Juniors!

Totally agree. The skill level of these two is unmatched. They are my favorite team this year and it is not even close. Well, maybe Smart/Diaz are close, but Green/Parsons are more artistically creative and doing more difficult choreography (and making it look easy) than anyone I've seen.I was in the audience at Skate Canada and IMHO Green/Parsons’ skill level (both technical and artistic) and overall potential are noticeably greater than that of either Fear/Gibson or Carreira/Ponomarenko. This is so unfortunate for H/BHawayek and Baker have withdrawn from NHK Trophy. She is recovering from a concussion.

Wishing Kaitlin a speedy recovery, and looking forward to see them back skating strong when they're ready and recovered.
Especially because Green/Parsons have made up a lot of ground in the fall season. They are still on the entry-list for Rostelecom, which is two weeks after NHK, but I'm starting to feel like they're gonna withdraw from that too
, just with how little we've seen or heard from them, the injury is probably pretty bad. If they don't compete in the fall season, I can't see them keeping their US No. 3 spotIt’s a concussion. Some are worse than others but I can’t imagine it taking months to heal. If it does, it does. Madi Chock got a concussion last season in early July, and that knocked Chock/Bates out of Skate America in October, and even for US Nationals in January, they didn't look fully back and they later said in an interview that they didn't get as much training time as they would have hoped. If Kaitlin's concussion is anything like Madi's, we shouldn't expect to see H/B until NationalsIt’s a concussion. Some are worse than others but I can’t imagine it taking months to heal. If it does, it does. Skating is not worth sacrificing her brain.

... If they're feeling strong enough to compete, they should really try to go to a Challenger or other small international event in December or early January, just so their programs can get some competitive mileage before Nationals.

Will they (H/B) have any more opportunities for International competition other than their one remaining GP event? As of now, Green/Parsons and Hawayek/Baker both are in Priority Group 4 of USFS selection criteria for 2022 Olympics.
At this point (after GP Italy), Green/Parsons still are making a formidable run at the third Olympic spot, as I see it.
Hawayek/Baker's 2021 Worlds ninth-place score of 188.51 just barely exceeds the the Group 4 single-score benchmark of 188.45 (the 2021 Worlds tenth-place score).
As of now, Green/Parsons easily are meeting the Group 4 criterion of international "scores that would consistently place them in the top 15 at the 2021 World Championships .... (defined as the athlete’s/team’s median score from identified international events is greater than or equal to the total score from the 15th place finishers from the 2021 World Championships)."
As of now, Green/Parsons are very clearly exceeding the median-score benchmark of 178.18 -- whether or not Lake Placid International is included as one of the "identified international events" (the USFS document is not clear on this point).(Plus ... Green/Parsons' Autumn Classic score of 188.43 is only 0.02 away from the Group 4 single-score benchmark of 188.45!)
If Lake Placid International is not included, Green/Parson's median score as of now is 186.51.
If Lake Placid International is included, their median score as of now is 182.385.
For easy reference, 2021-22 international scores for Green/Parsons:
- 178.26 GP Italy
- 186.51 Skate Canada International
- 188.43 Autumn Classic
- 174.98 Lake Placid International
Sorry to hear about Hawayek/Baker's withdrawal from NHK.
BTW: 2022 Nats RD is scheduled for Jan 7.
Early January will be too late to add mileage at an international event.
Golden Spin is December 8-11, so in exactly one month. That's the last major international as defined by USFS. There might be other minor international competitions in late December that they could enter. Will they (H/B) have any more opportunities for International competition other than their one remaining GP event?
I forgot that Nationals was so early this year, since it's usually January 20 something, but with the Olympics, that makes sense. I just remember when C/B came back from injury in the 2018-19 season, they competed in Poland in early January to get some mileage before Nationals. Hopefully, H/B can go to Golden Spin or some other international before nationals.BTW: 2022 Nats RD is scheduled for Jan 7.

Yeah they are my second favs of the US dance teams!!I have been looking forward to H/B all season so this is indeed bad news … will miss them but best wishes for a full recovery Kaitlin!!
