2021 Cranberry Cup International

Tara Prasad -- representing India -- is on SCOB's competitor list for Cranberry Cup International senior women.
norwegianfairytale presumably is referring to Tara Prasad.

Pooja is not on the Cranberry Cup competitor list. (Nor on the Cranberry Open competitor list.)

(Side note that my guess would be that Tara trains at least on a part-time basis in Colorado??
Representing India, Tara also has competed in U.S. club competitions such as Broadmoor Open, Aspen Invitational, and Colorado Springs Invitational.)
Pooja withdrew, as did Bradie.

Does anyone know what the parking situation is? Website says it is limited. I hope there is enough disabled parking available.

Thank you. You are correct, of course.
I stupidly :bang:had forgotten about Pooja's withdrawal. I have amended my post above.

Anyway, I hope that all of you who are attending have a great time. Please stay healthy. :)

(p.s. I hope that you will have a chance to wave your flag of Israel 🇮🇱 for Cranberry Cup junior man Nikita Kovalenko, if you are so inclined.
Nikita caught my eye at a JGP Lake Placid practice. After he competed in the FS, I even was inspired to throw a toy to him -- it was the first-ever time that I tossed a gift to any skater. Whee!
Several of my favorite U.S. junior men also are competing at Cranberry Cup, but I would love for Nikita to feel some crowd support too.)

Wow, the pairs event is like a mini Nationals!

Plus I think it will be the senior debut for Smirnova/Siianytsia? 🤔

The Cranberry Cup International competition announcement originally had said that it would have Junior Pairs.
Only my speculation ... but I wonder whether S/S had planned to enter Junior Pairs??? And then maybe there were insufficient entries in Junior Pairs and they were given the option of entering Cranberry Cup Senior Pairs???

My understanding is they will do Junior Grand Prix , but they are definitely planning to skate as seniors at the US Nationals.

I will wave my Israel flag for him! He must have been amazing if it was your first time throwing a gift! 🇮🇱

My car is so full of stuffies I had to take some out so I could see. Most important will be Gracies roses of course.

Heidi Munger has been added to the list of Cranberry Cup International senior women.

(Cranberry Open start orders have been published, and Heidi is shown as WD from Cranberry Open.
BTW, Academy at Mitchell Johansson Method continues to be her club.)

Thank you, moonvine! :)
As always, your efforts to show support for every skater are heartwarming. Safe travels to you.

Objectively/realistically: I don't want to raise expectations for Nikita to have amazing content or scores (he placed 13th at JGP Lake Placid).
Completely subjectively: Something about his demeanor was extra-endearing to me at the practice session (although other juniors also were endearing). The very young Nikita (age 13 at the time) just happened to strike a chord with me as he worked and worked away. When 2020 Youth Olympics rolled around, I was happy to see that he was Israel's flagbearer for the opening ceremony.

Has anyone here actually been to this rink? A few questions from an out-of-Towner—is the parking as much of a challenge as the website seems to suggest? Is there anywhere within walking distance to get food, other than the rink cafe? What’s the temperature like, is it one of those super cold rinks where you need a coat and fleece?
Any general info is much appreciated!

Unfortunately I will only be able to see the junior Men, Junior Women and Ice Dance Free. I just can’t come another day early. But I will cheer extra loudly and wave flags extra hard!

We will all be at least six feet apart, baby!
Have to try to stop the spread, y’know.
I can sit six feet from someone and still speak to them. Plus I have to give you your Canadian flag. I have plenty of hand sanitizer.

SCOB is my home club - I haven't actually been to the new rink yet, oddly, but I went to the site a couple times before the rink was open.

If I had to guess, I'd say the lot is big enough for at least 200 cars. From looking at a satellite image on Google Earth, I can see 8 disabled spots - six out front and two at the side entrance. You're right that they seem to suggest parking is going to be a challenge - I got the impression from talking to the office about ticketing that they're not expecting a massive number of spectators, but when you factor in parking for competitors and staff, it could get tight.

I wouldn't count on being able to walk anywhere for food - the road that the rink is on is basically in an industrial park. There's a huge shopping plaza with a Target, a Panera, a Chipotle, etc., but it's about a mile and a half down the road, so not easily walkable. There's a small hot dog truck that sets up closer to the rink that caters to the truckers and construction crews in the area, about a quarter of a mile away - that would be pretty easy to walk to.

Not having been in the building, I'm not sure about the temperature. They kept the old rink decently warm - in the summertime I was usually fine in a t-shirt and joggers, even when I wasn't skating.

I’m volunteering tomorrow (and Wednesday), so I can report back on the rink temperature and anything else y’all want to know.

I’m really glad they’re offering a shuttle from the MBTA parking garage. I was getting a little worried about parking…
