Literally, it's going to be their debut competition internationally for Kana & Dai. So good luck! Team KoKo is still ahead of them technically, but as an old skating fan, I am very curious to see how int'l judges are gonna judge these two Japanese teams here.

Tbh after what I've seen of both teams recently I would say that - apart from the lifts in the FD where they still have a slight edge - Team KoKo aren't technically superior anymore. Skating skill-wise Kana is the strongest skater out of the four and Dai has improved a lot over the past year. Kana and Dai were also stronger in the MB pattern at Labour Day Invitational than Team KoKo at SkAm. I think this will be a neck and neck race.

I'm very excited/nervous to see how this pans out. And I'm wishing both teams well (even if I'm slightly biased towards one of them ).

KoKo did great at Nationals last season, and did fine at Worlds. But I am really liking Kana/Dai this season. I think they might possibly be the ones going to the Olympics. I am really excited to see how they do this weekend.

I’m also curious to see what kind of shape Sinitsina/Katsalapov are in. I would guess, not great, given the eye-openingly high scores awarded to Stepanova/Bukin last week. It seems to me that S/B are generously scored when S/K are having a bit of rough going, and that their scores drop to a more defensible level when S/K look to be out of the woods. (Of course, not suggesting that this is anything more than coincidence—I would never do that )

That was the lowest Stepanova/Bukin have scored since the 2018 GPF, so I don't know about that theory.

I should have clarified—I meant their tech scores, not overall in this instance.

I feel sorry for Team KoKo. Kana and Dai seem have hogged the media attention and IMO they have much more charisma, which doesn't necessarily mean they are better ice dancers. Tim/Takeru has given up his US citizenship for [probably] his only shot at the Olympics. Given Dai's age, I imagine this will be Kana and Dai's only shot at the Olympics as well. I hope both teams skate their best at Nationals, the judging is fair, and there are no bad feelings regardless of who wins.

It will be good to see Sinitsyna/Katsalopov. I am not sure of when Nikita first got his back injury, but I do think that S/K will skate good and score well.
