2021 Russian Junior Nationals Day 2

Even with the fall, she is lovely. She really needs to work on getting her levels on the stepseqs. Honestly, her SS are top of the field (imho) so she isn't paying enough attention to the turns.
SS top of the field? No way. Also she can't really be expected to get higher levels than that with that step sequence, especially the second combination was super laboured and cheated.

Definitely not a fan of Rozanov, but also silly to compare Zhilina's novice choreo to her junior stuff when she's clearly trying to up her content. I do think her packaging is very strained and artificial though.

Overall, the judges has been very harsh IMO. We've seen some lovely clean difficult programs, still the best score is 125.

Which combination?

In addition to the technical stuff you all mentioned, i would like Osokina to work on her facial expressions too. She has such beautiful carriage, she'll be something special if she really learns to show emotion.

Interesting you think that's the problem. I think she's a mini Trusova at that age, doesn't care one bit about the music or expression, she's just got moves to get thru to get to the jumps.

She absolutely is. However, she has better jump technique and is less naturally competitive. I think the latter issue is why she is unable to perform in competition. She is too focused on the technical issues and also afraid. Unlike the above poster, I can think of many many World and Olympic Champions who absolutely were not consistent at 12 years old. She can work on these things. She is one of the youngest competitors. She is an amazing talent and only time will tell if she develops to her full potential.

Tsibinova made a mistake 😲

What was up with her?
I know! :scratch2: And it was a costly one. It should have been a combo - instead she got -GOE, REP with lower BV and a missing jump. She would have been in the lead if clean.

I'm talking about the Russian figure skating scene, not past World or Olympic champions. Such as Akatieva, Samodelkina etc. who have been very consistent for years. Valieva of course was very inconsistent until she moved under Eteri, then she became consistent. Zhilina's not really been consistent with anyone.

I agree she probably has nerve issues and usually looks quite worried.
