Why don't pairs get a day off between SP and FS anymore? I know this trend has been happening for a few years now, it still feels weird to see pairs finish the competition before ice dance starts theirs.

Agreed. I would switch pairs FS and ice dance RD.

It always seemed like due to the strength and wear and tear that they needed a day off the most but maybe the pairs don't feel the same.

I agree, pairs need rest too!
Their competition will be finished before dancers have even started!
Still hopefully they get to watch some good skating over the next two days
