Instead, I simply quote a comment on the Trusova bashing that has already flared up again on sports.ru, because it goes very well with your postings:

I just finished watching the ladies event and boy do the Russians like to do anything in their power to maintain the National team, at the top of the standings. I’m used to the exaggerated scores. But, after watching my precious Veronika place behind Trusova due to PCS score, it is like, really? Trusova at 36.51 for a slowly skated program, with a mistake on the combo, compared to Veronika, at 31.98, whom flew across this ice, and had the entire crowd applauding her due to her speed and interesting sliding choreo…. But, the fact that people are slowly loving Veronika makes me happy. You can only keep talent down so long.

Sofia S…. She at least tried the 3A and 3Lz 3Lo… two ultra elements, in my opinion. Sofia needs to lower her technical difficulty. I think it was too much and I hope she doesn’t go for too many quads, in the free skate.

One last comment, I think the Pairs have moved to the top. I’m more impressed by the Pairs team, than the ladies now. I think Russia has the top 8 teams in the world. They are so good.

Also, Mark. He is wild with his jumps. But, when he is on, he is a powerhouse, and the guy to beat in Russia.

Catching up with the menfolk now.

There were some seriously colourful shirts in this first warm up group, although we start with a chap who's wearing the classic white shirt and black pants. He's got some great armography. And now I'm feeling awkward because I recognise his face, but can't remember his name and I don't want to spoil myself by looking at the results. OK his name is Danill, I was feeling an Eduard vibe from him for some reason.

Andrei A Wow he went for the Quad loop! But whoa that combo went all over the place. Although that was an awkward ending shot of his coaching staff though, the male one was like "Ewww." I guess it was pretty rough.

Aha here's one of the crazy shirts now, it belongs to Maxim B. Not sure what it has to do with his program music, but he seems to be into it, so good for him. Seriously though, that shirt...it's like the cosmos meets Grandma's wallpaper. Deep. The shirt distracted me because I'm very surprised he's last right now.

Kirill K just wandered in from a 90s grunge band...but has somehow found himself at a classical music concert? No wait, its one of those weird modern mash-up things. Oh dear! He was practically horizontal on those two opening jumps, but was unable to Shoma himself out of it. Then he +COMBO'ed. "Oh my God!" indeed, lyrics. Ah well, I do like a nice slide, so I'll give him that. But that music was indeed a choice. Sorry to see him in last though.

Alright time for Group two, after everything I've heard about it, I'm dying to see Mark K's shirt.

Haha Mark has revealed the shirt. It's not bright yellow which is what I expected from all the emojis...he does look like an advertisement for strawberry ice cream however. Heh, there's a sneaky Sasha watching.

Petr K leads us off! Bit of a rough skate, but it's always nice to see him.

Now Tema!! Woah! He almost left the rink with that opening 4T! Kudos for hanging on, lad! Ouch rough fall on the 4S though, I always wonder how skaters don't do their ankles constantly? Like mine hurts when a twist it a tiny little bit, skaters are just like "Whatever." And land a 3A! Go Artem! this thing! I guess he could go into basketball, although he's not any taller than most of the other super tall Russian men, is he? Maybe they could put together a small team for fun on the off-season. Good to see Volkov is back, it was weird to see Tema at the first event without him! Yay into the lead!

Oh I though Egor was all in black, but he was hiding a white shirt with some sparkles. Not sure if the cross relates to the music, but whatever, haven't seen this fellow before. Nice opening jump, but ouch on the 3A, I hope his elbow is OK after that! Hmm, well he looks young, so he's got room to grow. He looks rather bummed though. How come no-one taking an ice cream? Does Ilya Y have to show them how it's done?

Mark is a style icon with that shirt...convince me otherwise Argh no camera man no focusing on audience members or whoever when there's skating a'happenin'! It's very rude.

Mark looks like the funniest guy to hang out with at a party and hey he's landing his jumps! Dunno what everyone else thinks, but I love the program. I guess he could do better with the shirt, but I think that's how he rolls. Although...I've just remembered that he hung out quite a bit with Nathan at Olympic practices, this shirt looks a lot like one of Nathan's Rocketman shirts. Maybe it's a tribute!

Now as evidence of my weirdness (probably not needed), I'm super weirded out by Alexei E's long shirt...I guess it's more a tunic. The music bar says 50 First Dates but I don't remember this song in it. Well whatever, Alexei E's hitting his jumps!

Weird music cut, is seriously weird?! Like this is a completely different movie isn't it? I've only watched Moulin Rouge once, so maybe not. Nice spin to end though.

Well once again the Russian Lads provide a roller coaster ride of a competition. Alas I won't be able to watch the FS live, but I'm sure they'll continue to shock and amaze
