2022-23 Russian Local Events – Discussion

Oh no a random fall Yuliana:console: other than that everything worked out perfectly for her in this competition poor girl. That cost her any chance she had to rise to the podium:(

Diana attempted a 4S:eek:

Her jumps otherwise are so tiny I wasn't expecting a quad attempt good for her! I think this is enough to hold on to her podium finish?

No quad attempts from Alena today, her team want that gold. I think that was needed cause those 4lz falls disturbed her whole program.

2nd in the free but 1st overall. I dont think I agree with that, today Liza should have won. While normally I think Alena is better than Liza, today definitely wasn't that day. Lots of Alenas triples were really shaky but got very high GoE. Moscow judges tend to like her the best out of her age group.

Pokes the stream.

Once again is it my laptop? Or is the sound quality for this stream dire? I've turned everything way up and can still barely hear. :( Boo

Wow, Alina Kulak is basically like a two years younger copy of Kamila, from the rippon jumps right down to the tights over the boots.

Wow, Masha - Without that pop, this would have been by far her best Free of the season so far.

Such a shame she didn't qualify for Jr Nats (unless another skater in addition to Alisa ends up withdrawing) just because her two Cup stages were so stacked. :(

Vika loosing lots of points on those spin levels:console:

Zhguns skaters have amazing skating skills and are such beautiful skaters but everyone has that awful leg wrap on their jumps:shrug:

With Vika, it is so incredibly apparent that her coach is Alena's first major coach - A lot of the same amazing qualities (huge, huge jumps) and a lot of the same difficulties (equally as huge leg wrap).

Alena profited from changing coaches (at least for a while), so maybe that's an option for Vika in the long term. Quads/3A will be necessary but she won't manage to do them with that leg wrap despite having the height for it.

Im so happy Masha has won a gold medal 1st time in ages :cheer: hopefully this encourages her in her upcoming comps!
And I'm happy the other Masha (Mazur) finally landed a clean 4T in competition (though she'll probably be unhappy she missed the podium) and it hopefully won't be the last.:jump: A good day for Mashas, it seems 😁

Yeah I dont know if she will stay with Zhgun especially now that she is showing some results. It such a shame cause Zhgun produces some beautiful skaters but that leg wrap just screws them over so much each and everyone of them has it.

This is far more like it from Kirill not perfect but good enough to rise up some spots in this field. The last 2 jumping passes got away from him and so did the loop in the beginning but far better than the short and some free skates he has had this season:console:
Its a smart choice to self the 4T for now.
