That's exactly what I'm wondering, it's such a weird strategy and I've seen no other coaches do that before.
If a skater is having so many issues with the 3Lz (and the 3F, she frequently falls on it), then that's likely a sign of a deeper issue - Maybe the technique isn't good enough, or the skater lacks the muscles needed for a big enough jump to get the Lutz and Flip done, ... Either way, it has to be addressed before doing quads.

Butsaeva is good coach that doesn't normally rush her boys, I dont understand what is happening with Arina
a 3lz is a necessity what is she going do next season when its a mandatory jump in juniors? Maybe its good that Lena left tho her new coach seems to be taking the same approach with Alena K so who knows

Yep, one of the reasons I'm personally a huge fan of a mandatory jump in the Short for the Juniors is exactly to force skaters and coaches to work on achieving all jumps, and not just those that come easy for them. Especially with skaters now having 4 instead of 2 years in juniors, i.e. they'll do all three mandatory jumps (Lo, F, Lz)Butsaeva is good coach that doesn't normally rush her boys, I dont understand what is happening with Arina
Yeah, Alena K is another troubling example. I won't say I know more than professional coaches, and obviously, I don't know these skaters and their limitations, but I personally wouldn't feel right about these girls doing quads/triple axels if they can't even do the full "regular set" of triples.

btw Anna Frolova just competed in an all Russia competition, nice short the combo was clearly under but she seems to be in relatively good form

I like the mandatory jump rule but I wish it wasn't a mandatory solo jump so if a skater falls on the non mandatory jump it doesn't result in them loosing a whole combo. I think thats really has rule for juniors.
Alena K had such an explosive break out season only to struggle hard with triples during 21-22 and 22-23 seasons I feel so bad for her

And I just looked at the results table for Juniors and there's Sofia Dzepka in first with over 68 points (btw Anna Frolova just competed in an all Russia competition, nice short the combo was clearly under but she seems to be in relatively good form

), Yana Ashtenkova in 2nd and crazily enough Julia Zigorenko in 4th, i.e. she either went directly from Moscow Novice Champs to this competition or the other way around. 
Same for Alisa Polyakova who is in 6th.

Oh, Milana dropped out of the top 6 (unless all skaters ahead of her drop too) and won't make it to Novice Nats But Masha Agaeva will

I was predicting a lot of movement after the Short, but I feel like the only thing I was predicting was some of my favourite skaters to drop like stones... It started with Masha and hopefully, it ends now.

Will Alina go for a 4lz? If Moiseeva is smart she wont let her, yes she has reputation scoring on her side but her mistakes on the 4lz rarely ever end up as the only mistake of the program.

In SPB, my Karina Korniushina ended her short in a very respectable sixth place. She had a lovely skate. Hope she polishes a few edges and focuses on some jumps before next season. 
Sadly (but not entirely surprisingly), Logunova came last and Kitaeva came 31st.

Good they have abandoned that 4lz, it clearly wasn't ready and the fall from it would disrupt her whole program. Her lutz axis is really scary, im always shocked she gets a combo on it or even lands it. Im really interested to see her GoE cause the combos didn't look the best but I see they have her above Valeria in the free so im assuming reputation scoring was hard at work today too.

Lena will probably drop off the podium, we'll see where she'll end up.
