I think the timing of when Gr/P supposedly left WISA is the strange thing, if they were always planning to move then why didn't they do it immediately after they knew they wouldn't be needed at Worlds and why would Caroline decide to attend university less than an hour away from the rink? I don't know what the reason behind them leaving was, but it doesn't seem like it was in the immediate plans for them. Intrigued to know what is up with them though, as if they were still with WISA I think we'd have seen them debut here.
Having watched all the available videos from Lake Placid, I feel that Eva & Logan's FD is perhaps the most promising? All of the other felt a bit done and uninspired to me. I think the Florence & the Machine music choice is exciting, but I didn't love it for W/C - it would perhaps suit another team more. In fact, I'd like to see Lorraine & Anton with that choreo instead of their FD, which I thought was dull and a copycat of Gr/P last year but not as well done. Why is Ian doing La La Land again but with a new partner? Strange choice and I found it a bit dull if I'm honest. Not sure about the RD's yet - other than I miss the pattern and don't see the point of the choreo steps here. Bring back patterns!!
I think H/B will be at the GPF, barring disaster (which could happen, remember G/P in 2018 when they fell in their tango and ruined any chance of that) as they've been given perhaps more straight forward assignments. I hope they get a great RD as I didn't really like their latin in 2017/18 but it is a style they can do a lot with.
I don't really see where C/B go creatively this year - another snake/alien would feel a bit too much for me, plus without the same level of competition they don't need to stand out the same. Maybe they'll go more romantic again? Their 2018/19 programmes (tango/Elvis) were my favourites of theirs from the last quad so I'd quite like that.
Not sure what to expect from C/P - they were seeming more confident before the end of the season. It seems Anthony got his surgery almost straight after 4CC so hopefully he's had enough time to get back up to full strength. Their junior latin was a lot of fun - and I do think they suit bubbly programmes so that will be interesting. Anything is better than last years FD and I do think that it was a learning year for them. Hopefully onwards and upwards for them now!
The Browns are the total wildcard for me. I love them, but historically they haven't been the best at getting their levels, they're small and they don't have a politically powerful coach. I wonder when we'll see them debut?
