I just hope for all the athletes that played fairly that these games don't have a big * in the record books. They have nothing to do with the circumstances that have arisen.

On the thread that's been closed, I read this comment as well. I would like to assert that None of the Athletes who played fairly will have any sort of asterisk. If someone cheats, and if they've won gold medals while cheating, they are not the best. Everyone who does their best, skates clean, creates an Olympic moment, skates free ... whatever their definition of a rewarding skate is ... are the best. The medal winners will be truly winners.

Now, less than 3 hours till this event begins! Getting ready to watch some beautiful skating.

When did the Olympics start basing FP skate order on SP placement? Everyone is skating in reverse order of their SP placement with Nathan skating last. I am thinking this is the first time this has ever been done at the Olympics. So, I have read that this protocol is due to the pandemic to reduce exposure during a random draw. Makes sense!

It’s been like this all season. Very boring if you ask me.

If you watched NBC this morning, they have all but given the medal to NC. (Except for Scotty, who has a brain) Nothing can be further from the truth. They, except for Scotty, have no idea how hard skating is, and how having to wait so long to skate an sketchy ice can effect outcomes.

They are correct in that IF Nathan skates his planned content with no errors he will win. There is no way for anyone to catch him IF he is error free. This is why the scoring system needs to be changed.

Jackie Wong was talking about how bizarre it was to not even have anyone filming him. Surely someone from Team Japan could do that?

In his appearance on Today, Zhou revealed he still has no COVID-19 symptoms.
"I was asymptomatic all up until the sudden positive test so it definitely did come as a shock," he said. "Right now I would say I am 99% asymptomatic still"

I would guess he has mild symptoms based on the bolded statement. Hopefully he's back to 100% soon and can be at his best for worlds.

Now THIS is why I come to GS Forums. Things like costumes are extremely important and I love that.

I have a feeling most of us are a little shaken and shocked over the events of the past eight or so hours, so I'd like to request that we avoid speaking of that thing and instead try and enjoy a few hours of skating. No wuzrobbing or complaints about politicking or skaters, just a fun and relaxing (well as relaxing a men's comp can be) event.

If Yuma posts a monster score while Nathan is waiting to skate, Chen will be under enormous pressure to do well. It should be exciting and I hope everyone does their best!

If it were any other skater, I'd be worried but, I think Nathan is as prepared as any skater I have ever seen. Hopefully, he's more excited than nervous.

Maybe 4. I'm hoping Jason goes for his quad toe and gets a green Box. I think it would be a career highlight for him and a HUGE thrill for all of his fans.
