2022 Olympics: Men's Free Skate

VASILJEVS Deniss (LAT)

Just forget the fall on the 4S, please. What a wonderful interpretation with plenty of emotional investment through the movement, especially the last footwork sequence. Strong 3A+2T, 3A, 3Lo, 3F+3T, 3Lz+1Lo+3S, and 3Lz to end. Great spins as always with lilting edge quality and control. To me, he's pretty much the European Jason Brown with a unique style all his own.

If they are not going to weight them equally, then you might as well just turn off the music and get out the measuring devices for height, distance and speed. Oh and we might as well see who can spin the fastest and longest on their way to vertigo and concussions. If that is the way the sport is going to go then count me out.

Huh? As I said, the proposals are designed to give equal weight to PCS and TES -- which I think would please many fans.

For example, from New Zealand's proposal:
"Reason: To balance the technical and artistic sides of the sport by updating the component factors. If the highest scoring TES equals the highest scoring PCS, this should balance the artistic and technical aspects."

In the New Zealand proposal, the PCS multiplier would be based on historical numbers.
But for illustrative purposes, the proposal refers to a possible new PCS multiplier of 1.3 for Men's SP -- instead of the current 1.0.

Which would mean that PCS would represent a greater contribution to total segment score than it does now.
