so this news came out 20 minutes ago... now it's official... but people have been talking about this way before then, which I personally don't like but hey... that's okay thanks for sharing this now that it's official. what a disaster for Keegan... he just cannot get a break.

So sad for Keegan. I was looking forward to seeing him/cheering for him in the team event. Hope he tests negative soon.

It's possible that even Keegan doesn't know. I was at a New Years Eve party with a bunch of seemingly healthy people and within a week a whole bunch of us were down with Covid. (And many of us were vaccinated.) Keegan has probably been cautious (and may be asymptomatic) but Omicron is super contagious.

Correct. Dr. Gottlieb said on Face the Nation this week that roughly half of those who are vaxxed and boosted will be asymptomatic when exposed and the other half will have fairly mild symptoms (everyone I have talked with who was vaxxed and boosted who had Omicron or the BA.2 varrient had something like a head cold. It is very possible Keegan and many others dont know they have it or had it. Hence the 2 PCR tests pre flight. Of course, once you go on a plane ride and into the bubble, in 3-6 or ? days you can bust the test.

If I were the Russians, I would have Valieva do both to completely assure winning both segments.

Mishina & Galliamov do both. Same reason. I wish they would let Tarasova & Morosov do one or the other, but unless China does not make it out of the short programs, I would not do it were I them.

And Kondratiuk to do both.

I can't see Valieva doing both for fear she gets Lipinskayaed. I would rest Nikita's back and go with Stepanova and Bukin in the free. The worst they would be is 3rd probably

Interestig and sad about Keegan. I really like him seriously but some of the things he did or what has been said it is almost riskng bad karma. NOt that he did anything bad but earlier on he didn't want the vaccine, and it is a joy to have a baby but why in the heck with Covid did he bring his family to nationals (forget money issues) I get he loves his new baby which made some wonder if that why he doesnt seem in shape. who is the sub I hope Keegan is doing what the Canadian curlers re doing they switched already to Beijing time zone. Keegan had to know there would be additional risks going from the US to Canada to Beijing. Not that I want this to happen but poor Nam Nguyen he would be in agony if a sub had to go now. If keegan is unable to skate in the team event or he couldnt do his best that probably would destroy any miracle shot at a team medal.

German media is reporting pair skater Nolan Seegert tested positive and is in isolation (no symptoms). That probably means no pairs team for Germany in the team event.

They have a sub for pairs or they can do just the three events and take 0 for Pairs

He won his first national title at the championships in Ottawa in early January and isolated before and after the competition.
“I was stupidly careful trying to keep the virus out. Like, I didn’t see my parents, even before nationals and after nationals. That was my first national gold (medal) and I didn’t even see my mom after that, if that goes to show what sacrifices I was trying to make.
