2023-2024 Russian Nationals Jumping Championships

Great competition. Like, come on, judging is judging, but it also shows how jumps are a huge gamble. Hoping to see Gumennik win it this year tbh and for Popov to hang in there for a few rounds. I don't like the second half as much though, because it is so dependent on the draw who is vs who.

Of course Mom called in the middle, because stupid airline is creating havoc with our flights to the WC to Montreal.

Honestly the thing I enjoyed the most were the girls in their training clothes.
I am not against costumes, but I am always a bit annoyed by all the girls so uniformed in their over the top glittery dresses.
There are such nice training outfits.

To be honest, I think Petya's scores would be lower if his jumps were judged the same way as Andrei Mozalev's. I was rewatching the last group at Nats and his 3A there. :scratch2::eek:
No one would be a leader if they were judged like Mozalev, examining every move under a magnifying glass.
I actually wonder what scores he would have been given today if he was in good shape for the competition. He did well in previous tournaments due to good stability on not the most difficult jumps.
However, it's all for the better. I hope he's enjoying ice skating on the rink almost all by himself now, since everyone is gone.

This exactly! Girls look so good in training clothes! I know that costumes are a big part of figure skating, but I'd be glad if there was even a whole competition once in a while where everyone (girls especially) would be wearing just their regular training clothes.

Who seems to be the favourite for ladies? I forgot to set an alarm but thankfully it was just qualifications. I'm assuming Prineva with her stable lutz? Maybe Bazyluk? How did every one look?

Petya has a relatively easy way to the final.

That 1st group could really go anyway all 4 have a decent shot here.

2nd group I think if Lev clears Vlad he will beat Gleb/Makar and go through to the final.
