2023-24 French Championships

Eve Dubeqc: 3-2 only but decent skate. The music is a little eccentric but her edgy movements fit in nicely. 57.14

"Eccentric" is definitely a word for it. ;) But, I liked it.

It has long been a joke that French Ice Dancers go for music that is a bit different. But, it's strangely re-asssuring to see that the Singles skaters are at it too.

Haven't see Eve for a long time, so it was good to see her again.

She goes into the lead.

Stefania Gladki: Now that was nice! 3F-3T, sparkly piano music, sparkly performance. Maybe a bit juvenile but she seems to be young anyways. Can't remember seeing her before but I'd like to see more. Well done! 60.31, I would have added a point or two more.

13 ½ years old and competing in Senior Nationals.

How adorable is Stefania GLADKI (NICE)?! And, more importantly, how good is she?!

Well, those that saw her Junior GP's already know how good she is. 4th in Linz and 6th in Budapest.

:cheer: SHE GOES INTO THE LEAD!!! :cheer:

Showing the older girls how it's done! ;)

Lea Serna: 3-2 only and trouble with all jumps but her presence carries the performance. 59.65 - behind Stefania.

Just realised that there is a delay to the stream. Because the scores for Léa SERNA (PFV) were up on the livescoring page before the stream finished showing her highlights.

She goes into 2nd, less than a point behind Gladki.

Lorine Schild: Slight wobble on the 3Lz-3T, the rest was clean. That and the convincing presentation should put her into the lead.

They have fun in the K&C. :)

66.50, clear lead.

That was a very pleasant programme from Lorine SCHILD (REIMS).

And a very refreshingly simple design of dress.

Awww. As well as her coach, her Reims team-mate Eve DUBECQ is sitting with her.

She goes into a pretty big lead.

Right, they're showing some Synchro repeats now, so I'm away back to finish watching the Free Dance before the Pairs SP starts in 35m from now.

Ach, for goodness sake. The stream is still showing pre-recorded features, and the Pairs SP Group 1 Warm-Up has already started!

And to complete today's competitive action we have the Pairs skaters. 5 partnerships, arranged into a group of 2; followed by a group of 3.

Livestream for the Senior Pairs SP is now on air.

Here is the link for the archived livestream (starts at 1h 22m 27s):

That wasn't a very flattering clip to end the replays with. Lori-Ann MATTE / Noël Antoine PIERRE (PFV) were WAAAAAYYYYY out of sync.

Their team-mates, Aurélie FAULA / Théo BELLE, are up next. So, we'll get a better indication of how they got on after them.

Faula/Belle: More or less clean but lacked a little spark and the sbs spin was very out of sync. The warhorse music didn't help either.

Camera direction here could be better. They keep cutting the skaters out of the frame during important elements.

Has Aurélie got a brace on her right knee?

I thought Aurélie FAULA / Théo BELLE (PFV) were good.

Into the lead by a rather large margin. 7.15 points ahead of their PFV team-mates, Lori-Ann MATTE / Noël Antoine PIERRE.

They're probably not Figure Skating specialists. The French Championships always have a whole pile of very different ice-based sports held together. For all we know, they may normally cover curling! 🥌

Piegad/Strekalin: Sync problems on the sbs elements and the throw landing was slightly two-footed, but they have very nice speed and flow. Well done. 58.36

That was a nice programme to start off the second group from Océane PIEGAD / Denys STREKALIN (COURB).

They now go into the a big lead. In fact, the gap either side of Faula / Belle in 2nd is roughly the same.
