2023-24 Programs by Discipline

Oof, I wonder if he got some knowledge of the current Rammstein discussion... I really wouldn't pick that right now... but maybe it hasn't really gotten outside of Germany.

i heard about that on the radio (radiofreccia, a rock radio) i wouldn't have known otherwise

Yeah, I mean I didn't even consider them a very relevant band anymore and didn't know much about them. Of course this doesn't make the headlines in other countries.

One of the people that made allegations is from Northern Ireland, so it was all over the news here.

I would have thought skaters do some research before they pick their music -or don't they? Or does this just not matter?

It doesn't seem to matter. How many programmes have we had to "Rock And Roll" in recent years? Despite the fact that Gary Glitter is in jail.

I am an American.

I have no idea who or what Rammstein is. I have no idea what anyone is talking about.

I am not asking anyone to tell me either, if I cared to learn, Google is my friend. ;) Just that I don't think many judges will be influenced, because like me, they will not know.

I don't think the judges will do anything, I guess it's more about coaches/choreographer/skaters themselves doing research before choosing music (or not).

But Ram(m)stein is actually a term also people from US could be familiar with: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramstein_Air_Base
(sorry for massive OT)

Well. I am bad, because I will continue the OT :ot:

Yes, I know about Ramstein AFB. At first I thought everyone was referring to the AFB, and I thought, what happened that I didn't know.

Then I finally realized it must be something else. :)

Rammstein's Du Hast was popular and on the US charts in the late 90s. Someone needs to skate to that lol!

Yeah, I mean I didn't even consider them a very relevant band anymore and didn't know much about them. Of course this doesn't make the headlines in other countries. It's just so confusing, although I don't follow the topic any closer it has been all around here for weeks and months now really, and to then see the song choice... yeah, just wanted to express my confusion I guess.
i'm not their fan either, i listen to endustrial now and then but it's no usually my cup of tea. my guess is that he and his team didn't know anything about that, just picked a song they liked

It doesn't matter what you wrote. The whole world loves Rammstein simply because they have the talent to sing beautifully, powerfully, charismaticlly.Today, the process itself is not so important, how important is what is shown in the choreography in this song.I adore Rammstein and german music, and I am happy that Petya will make a revolution on Ice.While everyone else will spin a ordinary program for the classics....

I think he can still skate a really good program, but apart from never being a Rammstein fan I don't understand how anybody who knows about all these things can still adore Rammstein at this point. They have a lot of texts, especially the singer, which describe and glorify sex with dazed/intoxicated women, their singer brought out a poetry book with such texts, so I think it's extremely difficult to separate music and musicians here. Like I said thank god he didn't pick one of those songs.
We have other musicians here in Germany if he absolutely wants to pick a German song.

Hensen Lickers just performed their RD... it started with Safety Dance, then Total Eclipse of the Heart..then something i cannot ID and went into A-HA... LOL i had suggested Safety Dance and Take on me.. . so i guess Scott Moir read my post LOL not sure about the mix and match but whatever ;)

well... if you read my post in the Canadian thread, which you don't visit often because I hear that Canadians invented pineapple pizza... well...

the going down happens at very good places

when he puts her down after the twist, on the exit of the lift and on the entrance of the death spiral... not on throw/jump

KOR Minsol Kwon (junior)
SP: OST from Ram-Leela

Source: Korean JGP selection competition

Can I just say that Minsol nailed this. She has the expression and energy required to pull off Indian-style program :love2:
Here is Minsol's practice video. She's so expressive! 😸
The track from the Ram-Leela OST is Nagada Sang Dhol.
