Phew. This has arrived just in the nick of time. It has become a tradition that I post something in relation to the Cypriot skaters on 16th August (the anniversary of when Cyprus gained it's independence from the UK in 1960), and was worried that I wasn't going to have anything new to include this year.

Apologies that I can't elaborate as to the exact pieces of music being used. Unfortunately, the ISU Bio doesn't tell us those details. But, I think we all know what we will be hearing for the SP anyway.

And to think, it was exactly a week ago that I wrote the following in the "Does a piece of music 'belong' to a favourite skater?" thread:

I am a bit surprised that nobody has mentioned Julia Lipnitskaya and "Schindler's List". Yes, it had been done many times before, but Julia's is the version that had the biggest impact on me:

I am thrilled by Green and Parsons' program music! Two seasons ago they delivered and had my favorite set of programs across all disciplines, and this might be even better. I pray they include the rap from "Cold Hearted" in their RD. I am determined to see them live, especially since the last live skating event I attended was way back in 2019 (junior worlds).

I'm also overjoyed that a team is using Technotronic, although "Sexual Healing" in the same program seems like it could be incongruous. That being said, incongruousness in ice dance is often quite entertaining. Now someone please announce a Samantha Fox and/or Dead or Alive RD and my fantasies will all be fulfilled.

I have one word for the upcoming spate of Muse, Beth Hart, and Woodkid programs: Unacceptable!

Actually I personally love Muse, and Beth Hart is a great singer, but yeah, let the anti-warhorse movement go strong!

Thanks for sharing - I really enjoyed that - he's so talented. Like Mikhail Kolyada, he makes really difficult, complex skating look effortless. What's his current ranking amongst the Russian skaters?

What's his current ranking amongst the Russian skaters?

He was 9th at last junior nationals. He went for the 3A in the SP and the 4S in the FS and fell on both. He receives very high PCS and GOE for spins and sequences but he lacks consistent 3A and/or quads.
