this is what we meant as different musoc choices, not some B track on the B side of the lesser known album from The Smiths (i don't know where people got this idea btw) there're some iconic 80s songs, there's even Madonna, but not the usual 2 pieces overused, but most of all italian trahsy music      . (btw, rock, especially hair metal, is iconic for the 80s)

but most of all italian trahsy music
Hey, don't insult your Italian music!
In Russia, the repertoire of the Sanremo festival of the 70s-80s is something iconic. We discussed it in the topic of junior test skates, I won't repeat myself, but this is very meaningful music for us, nostalgically colored. We do use it at parties and family dinners.
In this case, of course, the coaches chose music for the kids to their tastes, cherishing their own memories of their youth or the youth of their parents and older brothers.

I really enjoyed the variety of music, there was Italy, Sweden, France, America and Germany. It was cool to be at such a nostalgic party.

Skating to the music of Mr. Bill Withers and Mr. Bobby Womack?: Jakob Lofek has my ❤️

Juulia and Matthias understood the assignment: skate to music that was actually popular in the 80s themselves, not later. ;)

He seems that he also added another coach named Violaine Emard although that I could not recall that he added another choreographer recently.
Not really a new coach. She is coaching with Yvan Desjardins.

I suspect they had other choices to begin with, but then they read our posts about Italian and German 80s. :love2:
Seriously, I was surprised to see all these choices with Russian youngsters, but it feels like they got the assignment. 😄

i don't mean trashy as an insult     i find it kind of funny actually, after all happiness is a glass of wine with a sandwich, ask Al Bano  just a note, Raffaella Carrà was, is and always will be an icon of italian hum.. vintage music. her absence is almost a crime

no need to be shy though, they just have to ask, there's more funny-trashy italian music where that came from (i'm kind of offended by the absence of Carrà and Rettore  and not a single italian skated to L'estate Sta Finendo or something by Miguel Bosè. homework, teams! homework!)

I think it's very, very, very nice 😍 Russians love this music almost more than Italians. Let's just say that we need Russian music from 80`s to sink and think (and that's rock with its difficult lyrics and metaphors). And Italian music and Abba are for relaxation and celebration.

I suspect they had other choices to begin with, but then they read our posts about Italian and German 80s. :love2:

Don't dig deep  Actually Italian and German music was more popular than any other music in the USSR in the 80s. Adriano Celentano, Toto Cutugno, Al Bano, Ricchi e Poveri, Pupo.... Any Russian over, say, 50 years old will remember "Gelato chocolato" or "Felicita". Those who are a little younger will also sing it because their parents or older brothers listened to this music.
The children were just performing the task of their coaches, who got an occasion to realize their nostalgic impulses.
Many still watch the broadcasts of the Sanremo music festival, they are interested in it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the seniors take some Italian or German music for the rhythm dance too.

Me, being slightly better lately and activating sleuthing mode for skating, watching new vlog of Nadiia Bashynska and spotting potential spoiler of P² RD.
If that's true, I'M HERE FOR IT lol.
