2023-24 Saint Petersburg Figure Skating Championships

I wonder if he gets the reserve. 8th place should be it. But at the same time he didn't even make it to Spartakiad.
It largely depends on how the top will be distributed at the Spartakiade. Besides, the national team reserve is approved by the decision of the coaching council, as a rule, they take into account the interests of those who were ill during important starts.
I'm not even sure that Makar Ignatov will make the national team despite his top-6 ranking. He has no medals of GP stages, and this is also an important aspect.

And there aren't such senior men. And last time they usually included both who had health problems and who were high at Nationals, they included more skaters than usual.

It has never been a criteria. Perhaps this season something will change, but it has never been taken into account before.

This year the situation is really unusual. Less-known skaters beat more popular ones at Nats. And also both Samsonov and Soloviov didn't even make it to Spartakiad (It doesn't look like Erokhov withdraws). So it's interesting to see what the Federation does. I think big changes will only be if someone who failed Nats will win the medal at Spartakiad.

Well done Gleb! 3A aside that was a great skate from him. His quads are so pretty.

I truly hope that next season I wont hear la Boheme again, my god its so overused this season.

How frustrating it must be to get worse PCS though than a skater who's clearly worse in that regard just because you do not have a 4Lz.

In any case, it's useless to debate now, we don't even know the results of the Spartakiad

Petya always had a good PCS. What it has to do with the bad 4Lz?

No I think for Matvey and Gleb - they show a similar level of cleanliness as Petr, and Gleb at least has a 4-3 combo, but it's not enough to get at least equal PCS.

Gleb has very good scores on home ice, he has no reason to be complaining. He's almost caught up with Petya.

Yeah, and in my eyes - I'm not a fan of the personality he has sometimes shown on the ice, but I think he's 2 levels above skaters like Petr or Evgeni in terms of actual skating ability and, well, obviously Petr is musical, but I don't think he really shows it on the ice. Gleb's skating is so fluent and natural and he's great with the little details in his movements... while someone like Petr is more checking the boxes when he does a choreographed movement, his arm movements are very generic... and so on.

Gleb is talented PCS-wise but I don't see a lot of work on it from him. Soft knees and good SS abilities but bad step sequences and lack of transitions. He also doesn't seem interested in his programs, he just skates to the music he's told.
