2023 Championnats québécois d'été | Aug 10-13

So, what were the overall scores? All I saw was 118.62 for the free skate. Not sure if I missed the overall score as I was staring at Nic Nadeau and how happy they were when they saw the scores posted. I may have missed the overall scores.

I’m so happy for them… if they won gold here…. They surely, have to be sent to a Challenger event where SB’s count…

HaHa! It is 165. Last year was 160 and I was elated when they scored 164, only for them to raise the standard to 165.

Easy to remember: 165 for pairs, dance and 166 for senior ladies 😝
Men: 213 (my lucky number 13); just add a 2

Those are the domestic benchmarks.

:thank: I now put it safely into the main thread, should be searchable now as well

Ooops 🙈 Though I'm pretty sure I posted that in the Canadian thread too, as I remember making a very lengthy post complaining about them being raised in pairs and ice dance, lol 😅

I tried a forum search and one in that thread but somehow that didn't work

I don't drink normally... but I just prepared lavender lemonade and spiked it LOL :) to celebrate that success !

4everchan today, slightly boozed:

Yeah, forum search isn't always great at finding posts, but here is the post I made back then:
Skate Canada has released its Selection Guidelines for Senior International events: https://skatecanada.ca/wp-content/u...enior-Challenger-and-International-Events.pdf

A significant drop in minimum scores for the men (11 and 7 pts respectively), and significant increases for pairs (5 pts) and ice dance (4 and 10 pts). Basically no change for the women.

Skaters who have achieved scores above the new thresholds at Nationals and/or in international competitions respectively:
Men:
Conrad Orzel
Wesley Chiu
Stephen Gogolev
Roman Sadovsky
Aleksa Rakic
Matthew Newnham
Women:
Madeline Schizas
Kaiya Ruiter
Fiona Bombardier
Sara-Maude Dupuis
Gabrielle Daleman
Justine Miclette
Lia Pereira* (unlikely to compete in singles)
Pairs:
Stellato/Deschamps
McIntosh/Mimar
Pereira/Michaud
Laurin/Ethier
Ice Dance:
Gilles/Poirier
Fournier Beaudry/Soerensen
Lajoie/Lagha
Lauriault/Le Gac
Lanaghan/Razgulajevs
Bashynska/Beaumont
Fabbri/Ayer
Hensen/Lickers
Gauthier/Thieren
Notable teams who are principally currently no longer eligible under the updated rules (though exceptions can be made, and Makita/Gunara have scored above the international threshold in the past):
Proft/Nadeau (off by 0.19)
Derenisky/Eberl

Makita/Gunara (off by 0.37)
Bronsard/Richmond

I'm going to hold my tongue because what I want to say is not particularly nice, but let's just put it like this: I'm not very happy with the changes in pairs or ice dance, particularly in pairs.
Surprisingly less complaining than I remember (guess I was doing all of that in my head 😅) and I didn't actually list the minimum scores in numbers.

..that "DSp" somehow always confuses me... Dance spin, but also a possible Death spiral  (I know that one has more letters)
