2023 Four Continents Pairs Free Skate

I agree on everything except I did see the problem with the DS in real time — I wondered if he actually pulled her out early, because it looked like he lost his pivot. That or he stumbled coming out.

But totally agree this pair was superior to the Americans.
yeah... i saw that too... i didn't see the lift problem... he sort of kicked up and pushed her at the end of the DS.

I have not seen her land her individual jumps nor her throws clean all year. It is frustrating to watch. Fantastic lifts.

I like this young Canadian team but they always get these kind of levels and they deserve those levels. They don't have good presentation or SS. The score is fair.

Now, what they do have is time because they are both so young and they will improve.
I'm a bit behind but I do like Laurin/Ethier and hope to see them continue to grow! Love that they have already been partners for 5 years!
Program ran out of steam towards the end but they managed to get through it ok.

Surely this will not score better then the CAN - but I bet it does.
Yep, sure enough, that horrendous mess just put them into the lead. Good grief, they're not even trying to make this look legit. Absurd, utterly absurd. L/E were shafted by American home cooking. Wuz robbed.

I really don't care for that Marvel music...4 minutes of what sounds like the opening for some more exciting music that never comes. Again, lifts were great but jumps and throws need a lot of work.

He barely managed to get her up into the last lift. Having seen this same lift from them before, it's very clear that this lift was a huge struggle for them here and it looked very laboured to me.
I didn't notice the struggle on the lift. I would argue that many teams get the benefit of the doubt for similar issues... but yeah.. it is clear that judges do not care so much about jumps and throws nowadays... the two american teams have incredible lifts...and good presentation... but the rest of the program is weak technically... I am not sure this should be ahead of teams who do attempt to be good overall... just my opinion of course.

PCS aside, I still don’t think L/E should be behind either American team.
I think the standings should be reversed.
In pairs, leveled elements matter a lot. L/E got a bunch of level 1 and 2 on elements. This is why their TES was lower. It's not a conspiracy, it's math. If they had gotten higher levels, they would have been ahead even with their deservedly lower PCS .
