2023 JGP Armenian Cup Women's Short Program

I am looking forward to (read: "dreading") hearing how Ted pronounces Chiara MINIGHINI's surname!

Although I have a rough idea of how "gh" is pronounced in Italian, I am finding this name a real tongue-twister. So what will Ted be like?!

@elektra blue - it might be a good idea to put the mute on, if you don't want to hear your language being murdered.

And now...

My goodness! Ted's attempt was even worse than I could have imagined! :drama:

But, what a beautiful skater!

That is interesting. That was the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra playing her music. I wonder if Chiara is friends with Hana Bath, the skater from Tasmania we saw the other week. And if that is how she came to skate to music played by that particular orchestra.

She goes into 8th position (I forgot to look at the livescoring until now! :slink:)

in Ted defense i have to admit that the sound of italian gn must not be easy to everyone else in the world except for the spanish speakers. gn=ñ

But he was also mispronouncing the "cchi" part, he said it with a soft c as in "charlie" instead of the hard k sound :palmf:

And fun fact, that Italian "gn" sound is easy for Indonesian speakers as we have exactly the same sound  we just write it with "ny" instead ;)
