2023 Russian Nationals Exhibition Gala

Synchronised skating is very difficult. Imagine how much concentration and control it takes trying to stay in syncronisation with 15 other people while on a knife blade on a slippery surface.

When it's good, it's incredible. But when it's bad, it's a mess.

Unfortunately, this was a bit of a mess.

I felt so sorry for them. The music was great ("Jai Ho"). The costumes were great. But the synchronisation wasn't great. They were all over the place.

Performing at the Gala at the Russian Championships is a big deal, and I guess nerves got the better of them.

I'm sure they are amazing on other days. But, today was just not their day.

One of the TV cameras fell onto the ice when we were looking through it!

Thank goodness Zhenya and Volya were not close to it.

Hadn't heard this song before. At the start, I thought it was Beyoncé, but by the end I didn't think it was.

It wasn't really my sort of music, but boys but Liza sold it to me!

She was phenomenal! Electric! Every superlative you can think of!

This could become as iconic as some of her other Gala programmes ("Koop Island Blues", "Toxic").

You have to admit, the vocals got rather weird when the singer started making "trilling" noises.

But, that aside, it was a good programme.
