2023 World Figure Skating Championships Where Are You Watching?

An extra little tidbit I just "discovered." It looks like the World Feed on Peacock has no commentary, but the ISU stream does. Very interesting.
Since its inception, the World feed on Peacock has never had commentary IIRC and includes all the skaters and slow-motion replay and without commercial interruption. For some competitions Peacock also shows the men’s and women’s short and free programs only like this Worlds with commentary by Terry, Tara and Johnny and this time it’s also shown on the USA network for only the last 2 or so groups with commercials and no slow-mo replay. That’s why the Peacock listing for the World feeds for the Women was for 5 plus hours and the other feed marked USA was for only 2 hours. And then, as you said, the ISU stream on YouTube has commentary with Belinda Noonan and Mark Hanretty.

It might be so 🤔 because there are three Canadian pairs to watch/rewatch and not the same re women ?
Definitely not... CBC just shows everything regardless of local talent.... pairs happened first... in French, they had their own commentator. For women, in French, no commentators... but they still showed it live. I would take them at first value when they say there was a problem with that feed... must be technical simply...

Hey mister! Cbc stream isn't working for some reason. What's the French site called?

I would also add that there can be an upside to the USA network -- they will sometimes show parts of comps that aren't available on NBC so if you're depending on network coverage to view skating -- or just want to supplement your streaming viewing -- they are at least good for that. They might only show, for example, the 2nd and 3rd groups of a discipline, but it is better than no network coverage if you can't or don't want to access a stream. Also during Four Continents, they had some coverage, and Adam Rippon was one of the commentators. He was fun to listen to so when their coverage overlapped with streaming, I sometimes switched to them to hear a different perspective.
I am now watching Peacock w/o yaking, then I watch the T and J show on Peacock, where most of the commericals are cut out....

I almost gave up on watching it since the TV set in my household is broken and live videos from the ISU channel will be geoblocked. But I found the new streaming service called TVer, which is expected to stream it live from 6:30 pm.

I used that for a comp this season...let us know if there is a hideous woman jabbering continually or not....

I am not technical and wondered if someone could explain to me how to watch replays on either the ISU YouTube site or using VPN? I really don’t know anything about either or how you connect or if you have to purchase… Any info would be most welcome!
I use Proton VPN free version. I chose the neatherlands and THEN go to the ISU youtube channel. IMHO the ISU channel is not intuitive but with some experimentation, you will find the skates. The commericals if any will be in dutch.

Also old here. I can remember the days when "card girls" would walk out on the ice and pull cards out of boxes slung around their necks to display each judge's marks (and the times when one would get her cards reversed and hold up 4.5 instead of 5.4, or whatever). Also cut out the results lists from the newspapers. Clippings have probably crumbled to dust by now.:ghug::points:
I am so old I remember 13 years of the 55 mph speed limit, the change to 65 on rural interstates, and the final killing of the limit after 22 years....:eek2: and 9 consecutive years of 9 percent inflation. (n)

I dont see the Gala on Peacock. Is it listed on the ISU channel? I have been afraid to go there cause there seems to be a woman bully who talks during skating.... :p

I complained a few days back about Peacock not showing replays this season, so it's only fair that I say how grateful I am that replays have been available for 2 days after each event.
I hope NBC continues that next season. Two days is plenty of time for Mrs. Blueshirt and I to catch up after work and other obligations.
On a bigger TV screen, the world feed even reminds me of being there. I thought we'd watch ice dance on Peacock and go with USA network coverage for the rest, but we've watched a lot on the world feed.

I am thankful for the replays as well, I just want longer than 2 days - make it a week! On another note, I just got a smart tv a few weeks ago after my kitchen tv went kaput. Now I can watch Peacock on it and the skating looked so much better on the tv than either my computer or my tablet. It was lovely!

I feel like I'm revisiting the "good old days" when I had to search for results in the sports section of the newspaper... that part with the tiny print and the box scores of baseball games on it.

Some of my fellow old people know what I'm talking about.
My newspaper, or whats left of it, and the local tv media, are told by the big kuhunas what to print/say and what not to. Its like March madness is the second coming and Figure skating worlds doesnt exist.......I will day this. Long ago in 2007 and 2010, when nationals came to Spokane, the newspaper had full page pics of skaters and lots of coverage.....but those days are gone....

Somewhere around the house I still have some of those newspapers :love2:. The local TV channels also had lots of coverage in Spokane too.

So, is there anywhere I can see repeats?

I was never able to find the ice dance and pairs being aired on TV so I could record it, and then on Friday my cable was out due to a water main break, and because I had no service, I missed the women's free skate.

If there are videos of the competitions posted somewhere, I'd appreciate it if I could be pointed to them.
