I don't remember that many changes yesteryear so to speak. Maybe then you followed what your Federation said or wanted moreso. Also, now skaters are changing disciplines much later in life when they are seniors and even established. Add on the willingness and ease of switching countries it is "interesting at best". I do think senior skaters changing disciplines usually ladies to pairs is kind of demeaning - pairs isn't easy there are some tricks that are not that related to singles skating ie lifts, twists and throw jumps. And it seems like a lot of singles skaters when they switch to pairs don't hold on to their jumps that well. Alena K you would think wouldn't have trouble with a triple flip or lutz but she does now. Same with Fiona Bombardier. We will see what happens with Izzo and Shin. Maybe Jason Brown should switch to pairs???

So I understand your post clearly, when you say demeaning, do you mean to the skater switching disciplines late or to the discipline itself (singles and/or pairs)?

..... Maybe Jason Brown should switch to pairs???

Jason is doing just fine in singles. :)

He skated pairs as a juvenile. He has said in subsequent interviews that once his partner "outgrew" him, he really wasn't interested enough in pairs to stay. He liked skating with Thea as she was his friend, but he was not that interested in the discipline.

I'd rather see Jason in dance. Now that would be something to behold.

Perhaps 'demeaning' is an autocorrect error? 🤔 In this context, it seems @Skater Boy means, "changing disciplines to pairs is demanding..."

Guys, please - category for the the first post, full names for the other post (I assume they're from Canada for the first couple, zero idea about the other couple)? I appreciate your updates, but please remember, some folks, including me, have no idea who these people are. If you do, please don't make me go through fanfests and click on external links. Much appreciated! :)

Caroline Kravets/Aiden Dotzert (Canada) - they're already on the list from the Skate Ontario July sectional entries :)

Rilee Eby/Jacob Stark (likely Canada) - I'm assuming Rilee Eby since she was tagged in the Instagram reel, it could be confirmed whenever the Skate Ontario August sectional entries are out.

Mia Kuneshita and Alec Roueche look to be a new senior ice dance team based on the BC/YT Section Super Series August updated entries - https://www.skatinginbc.com/sites/d...ytsectionsummerskateskatergroupings072424.pdf

There are four people listed competing under Senior Ice Dance, the others being Malcolm/Chant. Based on that, they are a team. Kuneshita has Meiji Jingu Gaien FSC listed for her club, so they may be competing for Japan, but I don't think there's any confirmation yet.
