4lz just doesn’t work for Vadim:console: I wonder if it’s not possible for them to get him an easier quad 1st.

Everything else was perfect. I guess we will find out if it was enough for a medal.

That’s why they should always put the combo on the 1st 4lz instead of the 2nd like why risk a rep and a whole missed combo for few extra points, he will easily win here but depending on what shape Arseny will be in by nats it could be what costs him the gold.

Liss and Petrova totally nuked the freeskate! Amazing!

Petrova this time with a red dress, and they even got a red butterfly on her hand to match (as they usually have a blue one for the blue dress). Will she alternate between the two costumes throughout the season? It would be very interesting.

I liked Liss the absolute most though. She is so full of life. Such joy in her program. So flexible and so fast, without stutters. She does give the sense of gratitude and wonder for life which is a great refreshment. Just a girl having a blast on the ice. I suppose this might be a temperamental factor in which juniors supersede seniors. Its really wholesome.

Not worried about Vasileva frankly, she is clearly a long term project for seniors. Gain consistency over a couple years and she could be like Frolova. Also seems like she needs some experience dealing with nerves and hesitation at these higher impact performances.

Gordeeva has 2 wonderful programs she is struggling with growth but brilliant to see her still showing so much joy and hope even after rough skates which makes me happy. Her love for the sport is not leaving her. I think she too will thrive with more experience and consistency as she enters seniors over the next while adjusting to her growth.

They ditched the blue dress for some reason but the new dress is not ready yet.

I loved the blue dress.

I just caught up to the free skates, and I was clenching my fists to not peek into the results because it was so intense. The junior women delivered amazing top 5-6 programs, though Petrova is unmistakingly the diva. I love Lyashenko very much so was sad she missed the podium.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with liking top 4 dances--solid performances, interesting music, and honestly I am happy to see that Gorshenina/Makarov will have competition to contend with, but, boy they are wo derfulmexcept continuing troubles on twizzles.

Def, the most anticipated competition for me is in junior men, and omg, am I looking forward to Fedorov, Lazarev, Kolesnikov, Vornov match-ups. Just hoping Voronov won't get psyched out by Kolesnikov returning to the competitive shape. Semkov must have felt odd with the younger junior men skating next to him. Heartbreak was Puzin for me, and I hope that Smironova's group figure out how to create supports during the inevitable low periods for junior skaters.

Overall, it's great to see an increasing emphasis in juniors on skating skill, elegance and interesting program compositions. I am worried about the crazy technical content for Lazarev; it's neither necessary, nor sane.

I almost never have enough time to comment here and write my thoughts down in the forums anymore with work and chores in the way. I've just been liking posts, reading comments and bookmarking for later.

Finally, though I have some time! Anna Lyashenko was incredible to watch and skated clean. She's off podium, but it's okay. I think I have a new favorite junior this season.

Varvara Liss might be one of the most visually expressive skaters in the short program at this JGP. She looks like she's having a lot of fun with it. I'm not sure about her free yet, but she looks beautiful in the blue jumpsuit and had a nice choreo sequence.

Andreeva is also another new junior I find myself liking this season, but too bad about the fall in the short and free. Her 4S combo was nice. She was consistent at her last event lading her two 4S attempts, but it looks like her 3A from novices is gone completely now. Strange because her 3A was quite consistent.

Alisa surprised me by going for the 3A in the free. I'm usually used to her sister Diana doing ultra-c (4S and now 3A), but happy to see Alisa step up and gain the confidence to put it in comp (even though it's under).

Maria Gordeeva keeps on struggling with her consistency which is sad to see. I'm glad she didn't give up on the 4S in the free, but I hope she can skate a clean program in at least one comp this year.

I still have to finish watching the boys. I saw a few clips, but haven't found time to watch the full event yet.

I'm back from my travels and thanks to your comments I've got a good idea of how it all went. 👏👏👏
Sad to have missed it, but Channel One has the archive still going - something to do on a rainy October day (I've taken today off).
Looking forward to Lev, Vadim and both Klimov Teams, especially Nika and Danya. :love2:
