They were there during the warm-up. Both still had their white Cyprus warm-up jackets on and they never took them off. At some point, I saw them standing at the boards and I didn't see them skating afterward.

The next time, I saw them, they were off the ice, but as it was the end of the warm-up, I thought they had maybe just gone off a bit earlier than the other teams, but I'm guessing now that they left the ice immediately after I had seen them at the boards.

Thank you.

I feel really stupid now for not spotting them.

It just shows the power that Hooker Boots have...

I mean, it just shows why you need a better quality picture than 480px when watching from the other side of the room.

Right, I'm winding the stream back to watch the Warm-Up again.

Right, I discovered why I didn't spot Angelina and Ilia. The camera only focussed in on them right at the very start of the Warm-Up, just after everybody came out onto the ice. Which was when I was posting my comment about having a sibling 1-2-3 in the standings.

They were just skating around the ice at the time. They didn't do any elements.

After that, they were only ever in the background at the boards. At one stage when the camera was following Lucy HANCOCK / Ilias FOURATI (HUN), you could see Angelina doubled up over the boards while Ilia and their coach were standing with her. The next couple of times they made it into the background of a shot, Angelina wasn't bent over quite as far, but was still using the boards to prop herself up.

To me, it looked like the issue may be that Angelina was feeling very sick, rather than there being an injury. I suspect she probably ate something that didn't agree with her.

With 2m 40s left on the clock, they started moving away from where they had been standing, went out of shot, and were not seen again until after the announcer told everybody to leave the ice. They were standing just behind the gate in their coats, gathering up their stuff.

I really hope my suspicions are correct, and that this is not something connected with breaking her leg last year. (She had both feet on the ice and wasn't holding the leg in the air or anything, so I'm taking that as a good sign).

Get well soon Angelina! :ghug:

I looked at protocols. I am so happy for Alicia and Paul. At the same time, I am not happy that they were not rewarded on PCS. They won the RD based only on their technical advantage and they are just as good, if not better than many teams who got higher PCS than them in that department... they are less known just because they are second tier Canadian dancers... and do not get out to events like Worlds... but they deserve much better.

Glad to see Browns trying to inject more energy. Also, a huge surprise that Davis/Smolkin WD. Seems like a lot of WD at last minute. I guess people drop an early completion in favor of preparing for GP or looking after injuries for better showing later in the season.

And now, to the unexpected winners... great skate from Fabbri/Ayer, though I did like Czech teams better. Regardless, it is going to be chaos in free dance

they were on my radar for years... when some fans are complaining that the newly out of junior dance teams have to wait their turn, alicia and paul only had one year as juniors... and yet, she only 21 still.... and they were catapulted into the Canadian senior dance pack for many years now. I hope that the judges would reward them. They are better than skaters than many who get higher marks. That's all I will say ;)

Fun program from Katerina MRAZKOVA / Daniel MRAZEK despite Katerina's sq twizzle mishap. Think @CrazyKittenLady would have loved the cartwheels especially with Katerina's colorful skirt.
Yes I really enjoyed this from them. I think the music cuts could use some finessing but it was lots of fun and good to see them enjoying the music so much

Just got back home. I was hoping for better placement for Flo/Des, but given the field I can't get too upset about it. After all it's what, only their third (fourth if I count IDI Lake Placid) international event ?

Dont forget that Paul had shoulder surgery and they missed a lot of one season (2022-2023 I think?) so it has been difficult to get them noticed on the big scene. Hoping this is the boost they need to demonstrate they are worthy of Challenger medals. They are smooth, fast and strong (ant technically very good) and she has tonnes of personality. This is a personal best and hopefully they can do that again in the free.
